{"id":3527,"date":"2009-11-24T15:33:03","date_gmt":"2009-11-24T22:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.craftbeer.com\/recipes\/manila-clams-steamed-in-weisse-beer\/"},"modified":"2016-11-14T18:22:55","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T01:22:55","slug":"manila-clams-steamed-in-weisse-beer","status":"publish","type":"recipes","link":"https:\/\/www.craftbeer.com\/recipes\/manila-clams-steamed-in-weisse-beer","title":{"rendered":"Hefeweizen Beer-Steamed Clams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To make these beer-steamed clams, scrub clam shells well under cold water.<\/p>\n<p>In a large heavy-bottomed pot on low heat, steam the clams in water or hefeweizen.<\/p>\n<p>When clams are half opened (after 4 or 5 minutes), drain off the liquid and add the butter, garlic, shallots, and salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Cover the pot and shake to distribute ingredients evenly.<\/p>\n<p>Add fresh basil and saut\u00e9 until all of the clams are fully open. (Remember to discard any that do not open.)<\/p>\n<p>Turn the heat off and add the hefeweizen, again giving the pot a shake to distribute. Carefully sprinkle Parmesan cheese in each clam and allow it to melt. Garnish with green onion and serve immediately.<\/p>\n<p>These clams are steamed slowly over a low heat giving them a beautifully fragrant appeal as all of the ingredients open up aromatically.<\/p>\n<h6>Recipe by The Wynkoop Brewing Co., Denver, CO, USA.
