There is undoubtedly an intersection where craft beer and runners intersect. Maybe it’s something about how runners connect with communities since we spend our time running miles through them. Maybe it’s something about runners and wunderlust that only full-flavored craft beer can quench. Or maybe it’s simple calories, and runners need lots of them.<\/p>\n
It’s almost tradition by now that after my favorite road race, the Gasparilla 15K in Tampa in February, that I’m the second person in the door when Cigar City opens at 11 a.m. What else is a runner to do after leaving her heart out on the pavement in swampy Florida? (Yes, it’s still swampy and\u00a0gross in February.)<\/p>\n
Fall’s drier air and crisper mornings make the season much kinder on runners, and some of the top road races\u00a0of the year are coming up. Elevator Brewing Company\u2019s toasty, caramel red ale, Bleeding Buckeye is here just a few blocks off High Street to answer the call.<\/p>\n Sidekick Pale Ale<\/a> |\u00a0Two Brothers Artisan Brewing<\/strong><\/p>\n Just like deep dish and the Cubs, Two Brothers is iconic as Chicago beer. Named in honor of Lou Gehrig\u2019s retired jersey number, Pike Brewing Company is one of seven Washington State breweries who\u2019ve joined Ales for ALS, donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.<\/p>\n Sweet Heat<\/a> | Burnside Brewing Co.<\/strong><\/p>\n Portland’s Buckman and Hosford-Abernathy neighborhoods are brimming with small and independent breweries (you can find our guide here<\/a>), and Burnside is one spot where the food and beer combo will satisfy any hungry runner. Over in “Old Vegas,” you’ll find Banger Brewing, Fremont Street’s first craft brewery. The BBQ Kielbasa pizza comes highly recommended.<\/p>\n 007 Golden EyePA<\/a> | Bugnutty Brewing Co.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to halfmarathons.net, this space-themed race is Florida\u2019s oldest marathon road race event<\/a>.
