LONE TREE, CO— It’s a fruit-packed summer at Lone Tree Brewing Company, where visitors can now find cans of Golden Berry Ale, the latest in Lone Tree’s rotating small-batch can series. Six-packs of Golden Berry Ale are also available across Colorado and Kansas in select craft establishments.

“This beer was inspired by a trip to Belgium,” says Dennis O’Harrow, Lone Tree’s Head Brewer. “It’s very fruit-forward with a unique almost banana-like character that comes from the esters in the yeast strain we use.”

Golden Berry Ale is a higher octane, Belgian-Style Ale that’s surprisingly quaffable for its 8% ABV. Belgian Golden Strong Ale at its base with both raspberry and blackberry juice and puree, this new selection from Lone Tree has arrived right in time for the heat of the summer. Find it in cans at Lone Tree Brewing Company and across Colorado and Kansas for a limited time.

For more information about the Lone Tree Brewing Company Golden Berry Ale, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

DURANGO, CO— You might not be able to go on a tropical vacation with your buds right now, but your tastebuds can still escape to tropical fruit paradise with a 6-pack of Ska Brewing’s new release, Tropical Hazy IPA.

With a plush mouthfeel, this Hazy IPA explodes with tropical hop flavors and a soft malt body. Its low actual bitterness allows bright, fruity characteristics to shine. Brewed with papaya and pineapple and weighing in at a crushable but substantial 6% ABV, Tropical Hazy IPA is like a virtual vacation in your mouth.

This new hazy offering from Ska Brewing comes the summer after the brewery’s first hazy IPA can debut. The Hazy IPA sparked the brewery brand refresh last year, and Ska has been experimenting in the hazy department since.

Tropical Hazy IPA arrives across Ska’s national distribution footprint just in time for summer, and it will be available year-round in canned 6-packs going forward. It is also currently available on tap at the brewery’s World Headquarters in Durango.

For more information about Ska’s Tropical Hazy IPA or delve into the hazy IPA subcategory, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

LONE TREE, CO— In celebration of the city of Lone Tree’s 25th anniversary, Lone Tree Brewing Company brings back a tried-and-true classic recipe for a special one-time release as the city’s official anniversary lager. Mountain Mama German Style Helles Lager tapped at the brewing company this week to celebrate the silver anniversary of Lone Tree, Colorado.

Since its inception as a city in 1995, Lone Tree has evolved quickly to become one of the states fastest-growing cities. Lone Tree Brewing Company came along in 2011 as the city’s first brewery. “The South Denver Metro area needed a brewery, and we’ve been proud to call this community home,” says Lone Tree Founder John Winter. “Our community has embraced this tasting room as their third place, for their gatherings and causes. They’ve made us a staple in their fridges at home. We don’t take that lightly— it’s an incredible honor.”

“In Colorado, your city’s reputation is closely tied to the quality of your brewery,” says Lone Tree Mayor Jackie Millet. “We are thrilled the award winning Lone Tree Brewing Company chose to grow their business in our city! Thanks for helping us celebrate and commemorate the City’s incorporation with the creation of the Anniversary Lager!”

The anniversary lager, a German Style Helles recipe, will be available on draft and in canned 6-packs at the brewery on Park Meadows Drive. Cans will also be available at local accounts like Lukas Liquors, Highlands Wineeller, and Safeway on Yosemite and Lincoln while supplies last.

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing’s latest canned offering is a delicious sidekick for athletes and adventurists. The low-calorie, low-carb Aggrolite IPA is now available across Ska’s nationwide distribution footprint.

Aggrolite IPA is a collaboration with one of Ska’s favorite bands, The Aggrolites, who played at the brewery’s 24th anniversary invitational in 2019. The Aggrolites started as a a compilation of two bands, one reggae and one ska in genre, that came together in Los Angeles in 2002 to create the soul and funk-inspired “dirty reggae music” that they’re known for.

Aggrolite is light-bodied with slight citrus and pine notes from the use of Cascade, Mandarina Bavaria, and El Dorado hops, and a light golden orange color. This beer contains only 99 calories and 4g of carbohydrates per can, with 4.2% ABV. Aggrolite pairs well with bike rides, boating, and bikinis.

Show Ska your Aggrolite activities with the #SkaAggrolites hashtag, and tag @skabrewing for a chance to be featured.

Find Aggrolite at select retailers across its thirteen state distribution footprint, and in cans at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango, Colorado. Please check the Ska Website, www.skabrewing.com, for adjusted hours and to-go offerings.

EAGLE, CO— Bonfire Brewing broke even more ground on its continued patio expansion last week to increase seating and entertainment space for customers this summer. Bonfire is working closely with local partners to execute this project during uncertain times.

The new additions to Bonfire’s award-winning patio include fresh concrete complete with sleeves for removable fence posts, adding an additional 500 square feet of safe, level, and licensed outdoor space for customers to enjoy Bonfire beers. Not to mention this upgrade means there will always be a shady spot for refuge from the Colorado sun, no matter the time of day.

Bonfire has always been deeply ingrained in the Eagle community, and this expansion is no exception. The brewery’s landlord manned a Skid-Steer that he owns to help haul concrete and level dirt, and a local contractor offered Bonfire an exceptional price on concrete so they could execute the project as inexpensively as possible. The Town of Eagle might be on a spending freeze in response to COVID-19, however they waived the permit and review fees, and provided technical support to help facilitate the project.

“One of the primary motivations for launching this project is to open up more outdoor customer areas in anticipation of continued distancing requirements, if and when we are permitted to reopen for on-premise service,” says Bonfire Co-Owner Andy Jessen. “It was always part of the original vision for the patio expansion, and now seemed like the perfect time to go for it.”

Without bar hours to staff, Bonfire team members have been working on an array of projects to update the tasting room, this patio work included. While starting the demo work, the team uncovered a small piece of Eagle history— a portion of the original Town of Eagle sidewalk in pristine condition. It sits below the grade of the building pad, likely covered up in the 1960’s or 70’s.

The Bonfire crew also saved the hops in the planter boxes that have been growing on Second Street since the brewery’s first summer of business in 2011, and will replant them in an expanded urban hop farm at the tap room this growing season. They are also rebuilding the planter box for the signature pine tree growing in front of the brewery in downtown Eagle. The Bonfire team also has exciting plans for expanded bike parking, and fun ideas for the first round of furnishings in the new space— stay tuned on their social media channels for updates as the project continues.

For more information about Bonfire Brewing or its destination patio, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

LONE TREE, CO— Lone Tree Brewing Company brings a tasting room favorite, Pineapple Sour, back for the second year in cans. Pineapple Sour is now available across Colorado and in Kansas.

Pineapple Sour was the first canned release of the Branching Out Series in 2019. It’s a summer crusher perfect for all social-distancing outdoor activities including grilling, picnics, or enjoying a cold beverage in the driveway— six feet away from friends of course.

Pineapple Sour is a refreshingly crisp, kettle soured Blonde Ale with a subtle fruit finish created by more than 300 pounds of pineapple added during fermentation. The pleasant tartness is approachable and yields a low ABV of 4.5%, enough to sip all day.

Find six-packs of Pineapple Sour cans for sale to-go at Lone Tree’s tasting room, and at liquor and grocery stores across Colorado and Kansas. Contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com for more information or to connect with the brewery.

BOULDER, CO— After having to close its doors just one hour and eleven minutes after statewide on-site dining was shuttered, Ska Street Brewstillery will reopen to the public Wednesday, May 6 to serve a new to-go menu.

The limited menu at Ska Street Brewstillery will include some of the new establishment’s signature sandwiches such as The Dave and the Breeze BLT, as well as a new Family Meal menu with serving size options from 2 to 10 people. Many of the menu items are vegetarian and vegan. There will also be Ska beers, Peach Street spirits, and cocktails to-go.

Ska Street Brewstillery will be open Wednesday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm, and Saturday from noon to 7pm. Orders must be placed online or over the phone to minimize onsite contact and exposure.

“This is truly unprecedented for us all— homeschooling our kids, cancelling family and friend gatherings, postponing our travel and exploration of not just Colorado but our wide and wonderful world,” says Ska Street’s General Manager Katie Nierling. “We hope there is a silver lining in this all— we are stronger together and because of one another.”

Based in Durango, Colorado, Ska Brewing was founded in 1995 and produces more than a dozen award- winning beers fueled with Ska music, and lots of it. Pioneers in the canned craft beer movement, Ska Brewing is known for an array of styles in 12 oz cans that include Mexican Logger, Modus Hoperandi, and Rue B. Soho.
ABOUT PEACH STREET DISTILLERS

Peach Street Distillers was founded in 2005 in the heart of Colorado’s Fruit and Wine region, Palisade Colorado, where the high desert meets the mountains. The warm days and cool nights in Palisade make the local fruits and grains unimaginably delicious. Living the very definition of “craft” we do everything the hard way to turn these fermentable raw materials into extraordinary spirits. Because, this is what we consider fun and what makes for a mighty fine drink. Peach Street Distillers is Colorado’s oldest continuously owned and operated distillery.

EAGLE, CO– Due to worldwide uncertainty from the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure the safety of guests, artists, vendors, and the Eagle County community, Bonfire Brewing and Optimum Events announced today that the 2020 Bonfire Block Party will be postponed to the last weekend in August.

2020 marks the eighth annual Bonfire Block Party, three-time winner of the Best of Vail’s Best Summer Festival title. Originally slated for June 12-14 with its most ambitious lineup yet, the new dates for this community event are August 28-30. Eagle, Colorado’s annual Outside Fest that takes place in tandem with Block Party is also postponed to these dates.

A refund process will be available via the Bonfire Block Party website within the next week, for current ticket holders unable to attend the August dates. Tickets purchased for the original June dates will be applied to the new August dates with no further action needed.

The brewery and its event partner Optimum Events are working to keep the original band lineup and all intended weekend plans intact. They will make announcements accordingly at a later time, and continue to prioritize public health over good times as challenging as this reality may be.

“With circumstances far out of our control, we’re more grateful to the Town of Eagle, our ticket buyers, the bands, and our partners than ever before,” says Bonfire co-owner Amanda Jessen. “Over the last few weeks, keeping the Bonfire family safe and together has been our top priority, and we’re relieved that that has been possible so far,” Jessen continued. “With the announcement of the postponed dates, we’re excited to all have something to look forward to, and ready to bring our community the best Bonfire Block Party yet, circumstances permitting. Beer in the street may never taste so good,” she concludes.

Live music tours, events, and festivals all over the world have been cancelled or postponed due to the continuing safety concerns as a result of the pandemic. “The music industry, and every business type associated with it, has been absolutely decimated by this crisis,” notes Optimum Events owner Ted Wenninger. “We’re driven to keep the Bonfire Block Party going not only for the community here in Eagle, but also for all the artists, vendors, and staff that have seen their livelihoods disappear.”

A portion of all Bonfire Block Party proceeds benefit Eagle County nonprofit partner, The Cycle Effect. For more information and to purchase tickets online, visit www.bonfireblockparty.com.

DENVER, CO— Coronavirus can’t stop The Empourium from their First Friday beer release tradition. The Berkeley neighborhood brewery will release A Plethora of Piñatas Mexican Lager on Friday, May 1— just in time for Cinco de Mayo (Zoom) celebrations.

BUENA VISTA, CO— The organizers of Rapids & Grass, Colorado’s quintessential craft beer, music, and river festival slated to return to the Arkansas Valley July 4th weekend, announced today that the beloved event is canceled to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

This would-be fourth annual festival would feature beer from 50 breweries, local bands, and world-class white water rafting on the Arkansas River. After much thought and careful consideration, festival organizers The Jailhouse, Rapidgrass, and South Main/ Surf Hotel decided to cancel this year’s Rapids & Grass Beer Festival as a preventative measure to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All of us are struggling with the continued uncertainty of what the next few months look like in Colorado, but I don’t know any community stronger than the brewing industry,” said Jailhouse founder Sarah Stewart in an email to the participating breweries last week. “We will get through this and we’ll all drink beers together by the river again! Until that time comes, stay safe, healthy and strong.”

Stewart and all of the Rapids & Grass crew extend their deepest gratitude to the breweries, bands, vendors and sponsors of the 2020 festival, and look forward to collaborating on the 2021 event.

Rapids and Grass is a craft beer, music, and river festival conceptualized by Jailhouse owners Sarah and Shane Stewart, Mark Morris of Rapidgrass, and Jed Selby of South Main/Surf Hotel.

DURANGO, CO— The latest product from Ska Fabricating, the Magic Bus, joins the fabrication company’s portfolio of canning options today. The Magic Bus is a fully automated can depalletizer with pallet management capable of speeds up to 600 CPM. It is ideal for any application where speed is important, increased automation is needed, and operator involvement can be minimized, and is now available to beverage companies worldwide.

The Magic Bus is all about two things: speed and true automation. Gone are the days of pouring time and labor into the manual handling of pallets, top frames and tier sheets on canning lines— the Magic Bus allows packaging teams to “set it and forget it” by simply loading cans, debanding, and pressing start. A standard two-pallet infeed pulls pallets of cans into a depalletizer, where they are automatically emptied, stacked, and have their top frame and tier sheets removed and stored. Learn more about this radical new machine in this video.

Two craft breweries have already implemented use of the Magic Bus in their canning operations. This new product can be found in the wild at Allagash Brewing in Portland, Maine and Maui Brewing on Maui island in Hawaii.

“It’s a pallet loader that lets us queue up a full pallet of empty cans in an infeed system that will then automatically index that next pallet into the depalletizer rather than waiting for a fork lift driver to do it. It’s one more way of making sure we keep the filler running and don’t starve it of cans. We were the first to install one of these systems from Ska.” – Sean Diffley, Engineering Director at Allagash Brewing Co.

Join the Ska Fabricating team for The Magic Bus virtual release party on Friday, April 24 at 10am MST, with a live demonstration of this new product followed by a q&a segment with Ska Fab’s fabrication experts.

Ska Fabricating is now accepting orders for the Magic Bus. Contact sales@skafabricating.com for more information.

LONE TREE, CO— Fresh off the release of New Zealand IPA early in the year, Lone Tree presents three new brands that are now available across Colorado: Lone Tree IPA, Castle Rock Pale Ale, and Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale.

Lone Tree’s new India Pale Ale is a clear, West Coast-style IPA recipe that Lone Tree has long been tweaking to perfection. This medium-bodied 6.2% ABV India Pale Ale has bold hop character from Centennial, Cascade, and Zythos with copious amounts of CTZ dry-hopping that yield fruit-forward and citrus aromas— all balanced out with a strong but not overpowering malt backbone. “We launched our canned brands with our Double IPA and we’ve always experimented with different hops in our Hoppy Little Trees project, but we’ve never had a year-round flagship IPA until now,” says someone cool at Lone Tree. “This IPA is a long time coming, and we can’t wait to share this final product with our customers.”

Castle Rock Pale Ale also joined Lone Tree’s canned lineup this spring. This 5.6% ABV Pale Ale is everything one needs in a classic Pale Ale recipe: well-rounded, both malty and bitter, with a pleasant citrus-forward dry-hop aroma. Lone Tree crafted to celebrate the opening of Castle Rock, Colorado’s new Whole Foods store. It is now available at Whole Foods locations across the Front Range, and of course to-go from Lone Tree’s tasting room. Long live the easy drinking Pale Ale.

Strawberry Kiwi Blonde Ale hits shelves across Colorado and Kansas this week. Blonde Ale makes for the perfect base for these subtle fruit flavors in this refreshing spring seasonal that weighs in at 5.2 percent ABV. This warm weather crusher will be available all summer long.

Find all of these new cans for sale to-go at Lone Tree’s tasting room, and at liquor and grocery stores across Colorado.

LOVELAND, CO— As an advocate and Member Malthouse for the Craft Maltsters Guild’s Craft Malt Certified Seal program, Root Shoot Malting is excited to announce Colorado’s twelve new craft malt certified breweries.

City Star Brewing, Comrade Brewing, Grist Brewing, Iron Mule Brewery, Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery, Joyride Brewing, Launch Pad Brewery, Mockery Brewing, Station 26 Brewing Co., Timnath Beerwerks, Woods Boss Brewing Company, and Guanella Pass Brewing Co. are the newest Member Breweries in the Craft Malt Certified Seal program, which allows brewers and distillers to communicate their use of and support for distinctive, locally produced raw materials.

These breweries have demonstrated their commitment to locally grown and roasted barley by joining this membership program, and they’re proud to do so. “We joined because we buy malt from Root Shoot Malting. It’s important to support our local economy and a fellow manufacturer like ourselves,” says David Lin, Chairman & Founder at Comrade Brewing in Denver. “We were impressed with their dedication to quality, along with their malting facility. Root Shoot helps differentiate our beer while meeting the customers’ desire for local products.”

Jordan Fink, Co-Founder and Head Brewer of another Denver brewery, Woods Boss Brewing, is another advocate for the Craft Malt Seal. “We have a deep and abiding commitment to sustainability, community, education, personal relationships and of course, making amazing beer,” he says. “To that effect, we developed a partnership with Root Shoot Malting pretty much right out of the gate and at this point, almost all of our base malt is supplied by them. Given the opportunity to join the Craft Maltsters Guild and be able to showcase our participation through the use of the Seal was a no-brainer for us. It allows us to promote the folks who supply our grain, what they do, and showcase our beer all at the same time.”

Another of the country’s leading maltsters and craft malt membership crusaders, Riverbend Malt in Asheville, North Carolina, has also encouraged 12 breweries to join the Craft Malt Seal. Learn more about the Seal at craftmalting.com.

Contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com with media inquiries about Root Shoot Malting.

ABOUT ROOT SHOOT MALTING

Root Shoot Malting’s family of farmers grow, harvest and malt the finest grains to give brewers and distillers high-quality taste in every glass. Opened in 2016 on 1,500 acres of Olander Farms’ irrigated land in Loveland, Colorado, Root Shoot harvests alfalfa, wheat, corn, rye, and barley.

SAN DIEGO, CA— Legacy San Diego brewery Karl Strauss Brewing Company celebrated its 31st anniversary earlier this month with the release of their Barrel Aged Scotch Ale.

KARL’s 31st Anniversary Ale is a traditional Scotch Ale aged for 12 months in American whiskey barrels. This 11% ABV beauty was the brainchild of Karl Strauss Head Brewer Sean Albrecht. “I wanted to brew a beer that could handle aging in fresh American whiskey barrels for an entire year.” he says. “This style is malty and strong, one of the closest beer styles to whiskey, with tons of caramel notes and a full body. This beer will get more complex the longer it sits— at proper cellar temperature of course— but it’s got a nice “heat” to it now that will remind you of your favorite whiskey, or even scotch.”

Karl Strauss Barrel-Aged 31st Anniversary Scotch Ale is available in 500mL bombers across California while supplies last.

2020 marks the 10th year of the Changing of the Barrels anniversary tradition at Karl Strauss in which the brewery invites guests to taste the following year’s anniversary ale before it lays to rest in barrels for the next year. The Karl Struass 32nd anniversary ale is a Coconut Imperial Stout that will age in whiskey barrels.

The Karl Strauss launch date, February 2nd, was named an official Day in History by Mayor Kevin Faulconer and the city of San Diego at the 2019 Changing of the Barrels celebration. For more information about either the 31st or 32nd anniversary beers, or with any other Karl Strauss inquiries, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

ABOUT KARL STRAUSS BREWING COMPANY

Karl Strauss Brewing Company has been proudly independent since 1989, pioneering the craft beer scene with innovative beer releases like Aurora Hoppyalis IPA, Queen of Tarts Dark Sour, and Boat Shoes Hazy IPA. The brewery has won 110 medals since 2009 and was honored with the “Mid-Size Brewing Company of the Year” award at the Great American Beer Festival in 2016. For more information, visit www.karlstrauss.com or call the brewery at (858) 273-2739. Share it. Cheers.

SAN ANTONIO, TX— Hosted by Ska Fabricating, Ska Brewing, Wild Goose Filling, and presenting sponsor American Canning, Craft After Dark is an exclusive evening of live music, drinking and dancing for charity. This premiere event anchors the 2020 Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America (CBC) in San Antonio Texas on Tuesday, April 21 at local venue The Rock Box.

Hailing from New Orleans, longstanding funk and jazz band Galactic will bring down the house with support from San Antonio’s impressive pool of local talent.

Entry is free on a first-come, first-served basis to anyone with a Craft Brewers Conference badge or a sponsor-provided wrist band. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Plastic Oceans, a nonprofit organization raising awareness about plastic pollution to inspire a global movement to re-think our use of plastic.

Craft After Dark continues in the place of We Can Jam, a charity concert first hosted by Wild Goose–Meheen and Everybody’s Brewing in 2015. The events held in 2015 and 2016 raised a combined $25,000 for Athletes for Cancer and Cathedral Kitchen. Since then, the event has continued raising tens of thousands of dollars for local charities while promoting the best of craft beverage producers in the cities that have hosted CBC.

To mark this occasion, Craft After Dark and Austin, TX’s own Oasis Texas Brewing are joining forces to create a one-of-a-kind brew that pays homage to the event and the distinct flavors of Texas. An offshoot of the state’s first Session IPA, this singular beer will be dry-hopped with Galaxy hops (a nod to the headlining band) and use 100% Texas-grown malt from Blacklands Malt.

In addition to Ska Brewing, Ska Fabricating and Wild Goose, sponsors of Craft After Dark include presenting sponsor American Canning, as well as Chart Inc, Filtec, Modular Conveyor, RadCraft and CMC Kuhnke. Beer and beverages sponsored by Blue Owl Brewing, Hops & Grain, Oasis Texas Brewing Company, Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company, Ska Brewing and Oh Hi Beverages.

DURANGO, CO— Ska Brewing and Peach Street Distillers have hired Damon Scott as Head Brewstiller and Katie Nierling as General Manager of the Ska Street Brewstillery, slated to open in March.

As Head Brewstiller for Ska Street Brewstillery, Scott will brew and distill pilot batches and new products in collaboration with Ska Brewing Company and Peach Street Distillers. Previously, as technical brewing projects manager for the Brewers Association, he worked with industry leaders to develop resources for craft brewers. In 2010, Damon attended Heriot-Watt University and received an MSc degree in Brewing and Distilling. He has brewed at and managed brewing operations in Colorado and Washington breweries over the last decade.

“Having worked in Durango as a brewer for years, Ska was always at the center of my craft beer universe,” Scott says. “When I heard about the collaborative concept they were planning with Peach Street in Boulder, I jumped at the chance to finally work with these pioneering misfits! I’m stoked to help bring some new beers and spirits to the mix of outstanding liquids we’ll have from our two motherships.”

As General Manager for Ska Street Brewstillery, Katie Nierling will manage front-of-house operations at the new restaurant and 30 tap brewstillery bar. Nierling comes from Parry’s Pizza and the former Breckenridge-Wynkoop group where she worked at Ale House at Amato’s.

“I believe strongly in the mindset to grow your business with drive and innovation— and that is exactly what we are doing at Ska Street,” Nierling says. “We’re bridging the Western Slope gap to the Front Range. I really look forward to welcoming guests in for a true sensory experience with our love for music, ingredients sourced from all around Colorado, our award winning Ska brews and classic Peach Street Distillers spirits.”

Fresh renditions of Ska Brewing Modus Hoperandi, Modus Mandarina, True Blonde Ale, Rue B. Soho, and Pink Vapor Stew cans are now hitting shelves.

DURANGO, CO— Fresh renditions of Ska Brewing Modus Hoperandi, Modus Mandarina, True Blonde Ale, Rue B. Soho, and Pink Vapor Stew cans are now hitting shelves across Ska’s distribution footprint as part of the company’s 2020 brand refresh.

Since Ska Brewing launched its brand 25 years ago, the comic book has always represented the company’s core values and mission. The company slogan characters brewing beers with character has come to life on Ska’s packaged brands, each can representing a different snippet of that original comic book story… until The Hazy IPA came along.

When Ska debuted its first hazy beer in a can in 2019, they designed the artwork without a character or a punny name associated with the beer style as they have other year-round brands. Instead the artwork pops with bold colors and Ska’s trademark checkerboard stripe— a nod to the 2 Tone wave of Ska music— that wraps the can. These comic book elements ultimately inspired Ska’s entire can refresh, and can also be found on the design of Ska’s new canned seltzer line.

Consistent with much of Ska’s other branding, the signature checkerboard stripe is included on each new can. While new cans will not feature characters from comic books, they will retain classic comic book elements such as the blamo and bold colors to really stand out on shelves. The new look will help provide a consistent and recognizable look across Ska’s family of brands.

“We’ll never “rebrand” altogether because we feel branding is an evolution,” says Ska Brewing co-founder and CEO Dave Thibodeau. “We’ve been changing our brand since day one, but we’ll never stray too far from what it means to be Ska.”

Find the same great Modus Hoperandi, Modus Mandarina, True Blonde Ale, Rue B. Soho, and Pink Vapor Stew recipes in new cans wherever you buy Ska beer. The brewery will announce more can artwork updates in coming months.

For more information about Ska Brewing, contact Emily Hutto at hutto@radcraftbeer.com.

ABOUT SKA BREWING

SAN DIEGO, CA— Karl Strauss Brewing Company is kicking off 2020 with the latest in their collaborations series – brewing an innovative IPA with their friends at Pure Project Brewing in San Diego. Murky Poetry Hazy IPA will debut statewide on draft and in 16oz 4pk cans on January 16th.

“Pure Project has quickly grown to be one of the most exciting breweries in San Diego and we have so much respect for what they’ve built. As brewers, we never stop learning, and crafting the recipe with their team was an opportunity for us to both share our knowledge and benefit from seeing how they approach the brewing process” says Karl Strauss Brewmaster Paul Segura.

Pure Project was equally as excited to brew a beer with Karl Strauss stating “We were honored to be involved with a pioneering brewing company that has done so much for the craft scene in San Diego and throughout the state of California. We have much respect for all their beers and it was thrilling to brew at their facility in a true team, collaborative effort” said Mat Robar, Founder.

Inspired to push the envelope with their experimentation, both Karl Strauss and Pure Project brewed slightly different batches of this new collaboration on their respective brewhouses. Karl Strauss’ version is named as a nod to Pure Project’s “murky”— ie hazy— IPAs. Murky Poetry is a refreshing and tropical-forward hazy IPA brewed with Amarillo, Citra, Sabro, and Motueka hops that impart notes of guava, orange, and fruit punch; oats and wheat give this beer a soft, pillowy mouthfeel while locally sourced hand-crafted malts from Admiral Malting in Alameda, California lend unique flavor and local terroir.

Pure Project’s release is named Liquid Allusion Murky IPA (a nod to Karl’s larger release), and debuted in early January 2020. Liquid Allusion features a different hop blend and Pure Project’s house Murky yeast strain that promotes aromas and flavors of fresh orange juice and lychee fruit.

“Liquid Allusion is the debut of our hand selected Mosaic hops from Loftus Ranches in Washington,” says Pure Project Head Brewer Winslow Sawyer. “Mosaic is one of our favorite hops, and I can think of no better time to use it than working with the King of Mosaic – Karl Strauss Brewing Company.”

Murky Poetry Hazy IPA is the first of four new collaboration beers coming from Karl Strauss in 2020. More information about this year’s collaboration line-up will be announced in future months.

For more information about this indie beer collaboration, contact Emily Hutto at coop@radcraftbeer.com.

DENVER, CO— Bierstadt Lagerhaus, nationally renowned, and The Colorado Sun’s 2019 Colorado brewery of the year, remains open. Not only do we remain open, on January 24, we have the audacity to release Tmavé 13°, a Czech Dark Lager, inspired by a May trip to Prague.

Bierstadt now fields five calls a day asking if we are still open since the cidery in our building relocated its production space. Bierstadt wants to invite everyone back as we continue to Lagerhard for a Czech celebration of Lager, Goulash and Becherovka as our collaborators from Bagby Beer in Oceanside, CA fly in for the celebration.

The games, beer hall and liters of lager remain open and flowing, along with all the shenanigans everyone has come to expect. In fact, the beer hall is expanding-slightly-and will have some European-style food options as well as additional seating within the month.

As is known by nearly everyone and barely deserves repeating here, Lager beer is the finest accompaniment to food ever devised by our species. To this end, Bierstadt is changing its focus from really good food, to a transcendent marriage of schnitzel and Lager. Much drunken research was recently conducted in Germany to make sure our schnitzel was on point. Owners Chris Rippe, Ashleigh Carter and Bill Eye were forced to drink multiple liters of lager-often late into the night-to acquire schnitzel making secrets. Livers were bruised, but our schnitzel at Bierstadt is now as it was there. Some sacrifices are worth it.

Denver winery Deep Roots will open in the relocated cidery space. Bierstadt will remain fully operational, come get some.

EAGLE, CO— Introducing Bonfire Brewing’s new canned a new beer from the Community Creator Series, Good Boy Peanut Butter Porter. This beer became available locally in canned 12 oz. 6-packs in December, followed by state-wide shipments in early January. Following strong positive feedback from its tap room customers, Bonfire plans to produce and package the beer through March 2020.

The base recipe of this new beer was inspired by their popular Tent Pole Vanilla Porter— Bonfire’s brewers upped the chocolate malt and added peanut butter flavoring resulting in a rich and tasty cold-weather treat. The name, “Good Boy,” is a nod to Bonfire’s association with all things dogs, and the common use of peanut butter as a puppy training reward.

Earlier this year, Bonfire launched the Community Creator Series of limited release beers with Après-Cot, followed by Pink-I Raspberry IPA, and GrapepHruit Kettle Sour IPA.

IDAHO SPRINGS, CO— Fresh off its Midsize Brewpub of the Year recognition at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival®, Westbound & Down Brewing Company announced this week the release of new cans and distribution beyond Idaho Springs.

Westbound & Down will begin canning Colorado Pale Ale, a beer brewed to be enjoyed on outdoor mountain excursions; Westbound Double IPA, one of the company’s recent GABF medal winners; and Chicago Peaks Kolsch, originally a collaboration with Bierstadt Lagerhouse; named for the surrounding Chicago Peaks that include Mount Evans and Mount Bierstadt. Fans can celebrate these new cans at Westbound & Down on Friday, December 20 at the official can release at the Idaho Springs brewpub. Cans will also be available on December 21 at The Cultural Center, Westbound & Down’s shared barrel cellar in Northwest Denver.

These popular brands from the brewery will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz cans to-go from Westbound & Down’s Idaho Springs brewpub location, and at Westbound General that will open in 2020. There will be an announcement in coming weeks about this new provisions store.

We want to drink our beers on the go, and there seems to be a market for crushable beers in a can.”

Culture Beverage, an affiliate wholesaler partner of Shelton Brothers Importers, will pick up Westbound & Down’s kegged and bottled brands in 2020. Westbound & Down’s canned brands will be available in very limited quantities outside of its Idaho Springs brewpub and Westbound General locations.
