Pelican Brewing Company launches a new campaign that celebrates its home on the rugged shore of Oregon’s North Coast—and its fellow adventure-seekers who thrive there. Pelican was born in a culture rooted in adventure and a passion for exploring the incomparable beauty of the Oregon Coast. The brewery now unveils the Updrift Campaign to pay homage to that sense of place and a flock of locals who do what stirs their souls and inspired the ideal companion beer for adventure—welcome Updrift IPA.

“Adventure is our purpose and beer is our passion—it’s what gets us up in the morning and stirs us to do more and explore this place we call home,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “The North Coast is rich with adventure to experience and we wanted to honor the stories of the people and beer that make this place so special.”

Meet the flock that inspires Pelican to brew what stirs the soul

Pelican invited five local fellow fanatics to share how they live and immerse themselves in the organic and stimulating coastal lifestyle. They are adventurers who embody the gritty, authentic and spirited personality inherent in the Pelican experience. The Updrift Campaign follows five passionate locals who—like us—wake up every day in a place that reminds them that amazing is possible. Meet the Updrifters:

Pacific City’s surfing power couple

Al Ciske and Sandy Smith share a deep zeal. As Pacific City’s dynamic surfing power couple, they live and breathe salt water and fresh sea air—driven by the pull of the ocean and a passion for riding waves. They epitomize the local surf lifestyle, covet the beach culture, and are principals in the tightknit surf community of the North Coast. They have created a life at the beach with the same intention and purpose that Pelican brews. When not actually in the water, Al is a specialty contractor for Seastack Construction and a full-time surfboard shaper at NME Shapes, a company he founded, owns and operates. Sandy is a guest services manager at Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa where she helps guests explore the area and options for exhilarating adventure. Learn more about what drives this energetic duo!

He’s one legendary doryman

For some longtime Oregon natives, the thought of Pacific City conjures up the vision of majestic dory boats gracing the shores and plowing the breakers there. These waters are one of the only places in the world where dories can launch straight from the beach—an age-old dory culture has lured adventure seekers for decades. One local fixture on the dory scene is Joe Hay. He and his partner, Wendy, are the owners and operators of Haystack Fishing, a charter fishing service that’s been running the waters for almost 25 years. With a deep respect for the ocean and its bounty, Joe takes pride in his work and maybe most importantly, the sense of community and belonging his feels in this little slice of heaven. Check out Joe’s story—it’s a delight.

Meet one of Pelican’s chief innovators

When Pelican brewers brainstorm a new beer, they don’t necessarily start with a recipe or a list of ingredients—rather Pelican brewers imagine what they want to experience, how do they feel and what are they enjoying while drinking the beer? Pelican’s Cat Wiest and team were tasked with creating the perfect adventure beer—the consummate reward at the end of a rousing activity. Mission accomplished! According to Cat, “Updrift is unique because it’s a crushable IPA. It’s cleansing. If I’d just hiked to the end of Cape Lookout, or hauled out of the water after a swim in the bay, this is what I’d want.” Cat had a dream of living on the North Coast where today she hikes, swims, forages, and of course brews exceptional beer. She’s an innovative ‘creative’ whose incredible travel experience and work in the fishing industry informs her brewing—and she’s got a compelling story to tell about how she got here.

Raised by the North Coast

Jarett Juarez’s passion for the North Coast runs deep. Whether riding motorcycles in the Coast Range, spearfishing off the jetty or driving his hand-built VW Bus Roxy through winding forest roads, adventure is never far from Jarett’s mind. His drive to learn, create, and adventure is fueled by his upbringing right here on the North Coast, where titles don’t stand for much, and hard work is respected above all. Raised by a commercial fisherman, Jarett’s thirst for adventure and the ocean matches that of Pelican Brewing. It’s in their blood and engrained in their soul. Learn more about Jarett’s personal connecting and calling to the North Coast.

Meet the perfect adventure companion

Updrift was crafted with adventure in mind—both to explore bold new flavor combinations and to honor Pelican’s roots on the North Coast. Pelican brewers composed an irresistible adventure-in-a-can when they crafted Updrift. Long on unexpected flavor and refreshment, Updrift is the perfect thirst-quenching reward at the end of any outdoor feat. Available now—and year-round—in 12 oz. cans, 6-packs, mixed IPA 12-packs, and on-tap at Pelican brewpubs and other participating watering holes.

“We needed a companion, a beer that matches our adventurist spirit—a beer that is equally refreshing and unexpected as the environment we’re surrounded by in Pacific City. So, we brewed Updrift with this intention as we do with every beer we imagine,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “We thought of it all—the where, who, when, how will this beer be enjoyed. Then we designed the ingredients to reach the experience goal. We knew Updrift needed to be refreshing, medium lean in texture, and have a crisp finish to quench your thirst after ascending Cape Lookout or after a surf session.”

Drifting against the current, Updrift moves against the grain of predictable flavor, bringing a bright clean hop aroma chock full of tropical, stone fruit and zesty citrus. Underpinned by a foundation of toasty malt, the punchy assertive hops rise upward in a crescendo of flavor, leading to a clean hoppy finish. Atop the dune, the trail or after catching the big wave, Updrift belongs on your next adventure to ascend the crest of hop character!

ABV: 7.1% | IBU: 70 | PLATO: 16º

Pelican continues to be one of the most decorated breweries in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold Medals this year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Like all Pelican beers, Updrift is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

About Pelican Brewing Company

Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. Thanks to the vision of founding owners Jeff Schons and Mary Jones, Oregon’s only beachfront brewpub became one of the state’s most popular destinations. And now 24 years later, Pelican Brewing Company is an iconic beach brand and one of the most decorated craft breweries in Oregon. Pelican has been honored with more than 450 awards including the prestigious 2015, 2016, 2017 Australian International Beer Awards Champion Medium International Brewery; 2014 World Beer Cup Champion Small Brewery; 2013 Great American Beer Festival Large Brewpub of the Year. Why? Pelican brews are playful, but not frivolous. Brewed with purpose, passion and a deep respect for the craft. Pelican operates brewing and brewpub facilities in Pacific City, Cannon Beach, and its state-of-the-craft brewery in Tillamook, Oregon where it brews 40,000 barrels of award-winning beer annually and distributes to six states. Pelican’s vision, its beer and values were born at the beach where the team wakes up each day in a place that reminds them that amazing is possible. Cheers, Fellow Fanatics!

Pelican Brewing Company this week releases Raspberried at Sea Volume II—a virtual fresh spring day in a bottle—as the next in its 2020 series of seasonal beers. Pelican used hundreds of pounds of fresh raspberries to create this bright, refreshing brew with a tart raspberry character, layers of fruity complexity and a pleasing pink hue. Brighten up your social distancing routine with a super refreshing taste of spring—available now in 12 oz. 6-packs.

Raspberried was originally an experimental beer in the 2018 Lone Pelican Small Batch Series with a popularity that demanded a revisit—this round was crafted for a refreshment with less alcohol and a little lighter, more drinkable fresh fruit character perfect for virtual happy hours with friends or family board games.

Some of the most delicious and plentiful berries from the Pacific Northwest are red raspberries. Imagining the perfect beer to highlight this glorious fruit led to a lighter touch with malt and hops, letting the raspberries shine through. Raspberried at Sea Volume II is even more drinkable then it’s predecessor and starts with a base beer of clean malty simplicity, then layers on color and flavor with immense amounts of raspberries and carefully selected ale yeast. With a light pink-hued color, and an aroma and flavor that layers bright raspberry flavor with light malt flavor, this beer brings to mind a sparkling rosé perfect for the season.

ABV: 6% | IBU: 25 | PLATO: 13.5º

“Raspberried at Sea Volume II is an evolution from its delicious predecessor in the Lone Pelican experimental series,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “Volume II takes a little lighter approach to the beer, highlighting the balance of raspberry character with drinkability that makes it perfect for those bright, brisk spring afternoons. This fruit beer packs the flavor punch and refreshing dryness we wanted to capture for our next seasonal. Enjoy!”

Founding brewmaster of Pelican Darron Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Staying true to its beach roots, Pelican Brewing Company adds to its flock, breaking ground this month on its newest location on Siletz Bay in Lincoln City, Oregon. Pelican is planning another unique brewpub experience, at the former site of The Bay House restaurant—to showcase the magnificence of this beautiful stretch of the Oregon Coast. The new brewpub is expected to open early in 2021. While actual groundbreaking will take place on the site this spring, a community celebration will be planned for a future date.

Twenty-four years after opening its first venue—and Oregon’s only oceanfront brewpub—in Pacific City, Pelican brings its iconic beach culture to another Oregon coast town. Like its other locations in Pacific City, Cannon Beach and Tillamook, the Siletz Bay brewpub will offer craft beers unique to that location—and a modern yet casual and relaxing guest experience punctuated by the raw natural beauty and wildlife of the bay. The new brewpub will deliver the same incomparable pub fare featuring locally-sourced seafood and produce, and a number of innovative features found only at Pelican Brewing—Siletz Bay.

“We are honored to bring the Pelican experience, our award-winning beer and innovative beer cuisine to another Central Coast market—and we are so excited to be a part of this historic destination beach town,” says Mary Jones, founder and co-owner of Pelican Brewing, Kiwanda Hospitality Group and the Nestucca Ridge Family of Companies. “We intend for our new bayfront brewpub to be a unique and memorable venue for fellow fanatics to create new traditions and special moments to revisit again and again.”

Pelican has secured the design services of the global award-winning hospitality design firm, EDG Design, and the architectural expertise of Portland-based Jones Architecture. Both firms have collaborated with the Pelican team to create a modern coastal design that embraces the beauty of the site and Pelican’s desire to serve up an extraordinary guest experience.

According to lead architect, Alan Jones, Jones Architecture, the new brewpub is being designed as a destination venue that at once draws upon and honors the traditions of the Oregon Coast, Siletz Bay and the Pelican brand. The design was inspired by both coastal working buildings and the natural environment—the shifting tides, ever changing conditions and the dramatic views of the driftwood covered beaches called for a design solution that allowed the building t0 open up to the outside and for the outside to come in. Guests both inside the dining room as well as those seated outside on decks and boardwalks will literally feel like they are fully immersed in the atmosphere of the bay and beach.

“In addition to the contextual influences the project is also deeply rooted in the Pelican brand and experience,” says Jones. “We have worked hard to understand the Pelican culture—it’s an honor be part of the team working on this spectacular site with such great partners. We are very excited to see the Siletz Bay Pelican come to life”.

A new 10-barrel brewpub to craft exclusive brews for Siletz Bay

A 10-barrel brewhouse located adjacent to the dining room will craft most of the beer served in this brewpub and offer guests a brew-side-view of the exposed brewing operation and a chance to interact with Pelican Brewers. The brewery will function as a pilot system for creating experimental batches as well as brewing a few year-round beers just for Siletz Bay. The brewpub features 20 taps at the bar and a growler fill station located in the lobby. Pelican’s award-winning year-round beers Kiwanda Cream Ale, Beak Breaker Double IPA, Tsunami Stout and other core Pelican beers will anchor the tap line-up with creative seasonal and small batch brews on constant rotation.

Just some of the features of Pelican’s newest family-friendly brewpub include:

Open exhibition kitchen

Exposed 10-barrel brewery

Cicerone table for craft beer tastings and suggested pairings

Restaurant mezzanine with bay views

Expansive outdoor bayfront deck

Boardwalk to stroll along the bay

Plenty of patio and outdoor seating with bayfront views

Walk-up beer window for outdoor orders

Growler/Crowler Station in the lobby

Private dining rooms and event space for weddings, meetings, events, reunions

New Mug Club availability at the location

Exciting menu full of fresh and sustainable local, seasonal bounty

Specialty and core beer selections

“We have designed a destination venue that honors the compelling sense of place here on Siletz Bay—a location where guests will enjoy carefully crafted beer and food pairings while interacting with the stunning natural surroundings like the tides and driftwood beaches, ocean breezes and a boardwalk to enjoy it all,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “The Siletz Bay location will boast a dramatic and modern, clean design that integrates the incredible beauty of this stretch of the coast and brings the outside in for a memorable dining experience. We want guests to consider the venue a place where they can grab a beer on the deck overlooking the bay, dine with the kids inside, or walk around enjoying the myriad amenities and views we have planned—it’s a setting that invites guests to move around and come and go as they please.

Pelican, which is one of Oregon’s fastest growing craft breweries, brings new living wage jobs to this coastal town and welcomes applicants interested in joining their family-oriented culture. Applications are available here. Pelican has a Living Wage Policy to ensure employees are making a minimum of $15 per hour worked.

“We are honored that Pelican Brewing selected Lincoln City for their newest brewpub and we welcome them as a new attraction, an engine of economic development and a marketing partner,” says Ed Dreistadt, director, Explore Lincoln City. “We also can’t wait to experience the stunning view of Siletz Bay from their new location. Having such a well-established Oregon brand locate here is a big win for Lincoln City.”

Public will be invited to a Groundbreaking Celebration in the future

Pelican plans to host a Groundbreaking Celebration for its newest Siletz Bay location once all concerns regarding the Coronavirus and COVID-19 are mitigated.

“Our Groundbreaking event was previously scheduled for March 19th but will be postponed due to Coronavirus/Covid-19, as this would be a high traffic event. The public will be invited to the celebration in the future,” says Prinzing.

Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. Thanks to the vision of founding owners Jeff Schons, Mary Jones and brewmaster Darron Welch, Oregon’s only beachfront brewpub became one of the state’s most popular destinations.

The fun, chip timed race features a scenic course through the Tillamook countryside and is a fund- and awareness-raiser for The SALMON SUPERHWY, an ambitious salmon habitat restoration initiative in Tillamook County.

And it’s a family affair so sign the kids up to run a fun 100-yard dash. (No shirts and swag offered to kids.) All participants will receive exclusive Pelican Brewing Salmon Run swag:

“Pelican has worked hard to ensure the best Salmon Run yet—it’s really an all-round different experience for runners with a beautiful new streamlined race course through some of the most scenic parts of Tillamook,” says one of the race organizers, Kaylan Sisco, CEO and executive director of the Tillamook County Family YMCA, which is collaborating with professional event firm Scovel Racing to ensure a premier family-friendly experience. “We planned the Salmon Run for March to really kick off the running season and coincide with Spring Break—we hope families will consider this a destination for their seasonal vacation.”

The entry fee for the 5K is $35, $40 for the 10K and $45 for the 15K through March 25th with free entry for children 5 years of age and younger. There is an additional $3 registration fee as well.

Drink a beer, save a fish!

Pelican brews its award-winning Five Fin West Coast Pilsner specially to support the salmon recovery efforts. Oregonians can assist the massive effort to restore access to almost 180 miles of blocked habitat throughout six major salmon & steelhead rivers of Oregon’s North Coast by participating in the Pelican Brewing Salmon Run and of course drinking Five Fin! A portion of proceeds go directly to The SALMON SUPERHWY.

“We know we are more than lucky to live, work and play in a place as beautiful as Tillamook County, and at Pelican we don’t take our environment for granted—investing in programs like The SALMON SUPERHWY is a very meaningful part of our culture,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “Both the Salmon Run and our Five Fin Pilsner have been popular ways for us to create awareness for this important endeavor and encourage others to join in. I would also like to express our gratitude to Kaylan Sisco and the Tillamook County YMCA for stepping in and helping us execute the event this year.”

The SALMON SUPERHWY project is a strategic and intensive effort across a six-river landscape to reconnect fish populations with the habitat they need to navigate and survive. Started in 2014, the $35.8M campaign is expected to run through 2024 to improve the habitat for salmon in 93 different locations throughout Tillamook County.

Hundreds of barriers in streams still create bottlenecks throughout Oregon’s coastal watersheds—most are problem culverts at road crossings that contribute to flooding and road damage, along with some small dams and tide gates. Minimizing these impacts across a major landscape will come with significant, lasting benefit to fish and people, now and into the future.

“Pelican Brewing Company is a valued leader in our effort to raise awareness and funding to protect salmon in Tillamook County—which impacts all of us at some level,” says Terry Turner, Oregon Council Chair, Trout Unlimited. “We hope Pelican’s creative funding strategy will encourage other companies and organizations to join this very important salmon habitat restoration effort.”

Pelican is participating as a sponsor and donor of this ambitious and unique community partnership to design and construct culvert replacement to create healthy upstream fish habitats, reduce chronic flooding, improve recreation opportunities and stimulate the local economy. Other partners include a broad range of state and federal agencies, local business and agriculture, and local watershed councils. For a complete list of partners, please check the project website at: http://www.salmonsuperhwy.org

Like all Pelican beers, Five Fin is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Pelican Brewing Company takes a hard U-turn from convention with the release of Updrift India Pale Ale—a spirited and vibrant new brew that climbs to new heights of flavor. Pelican brewers composed an adventure-in-a-can when they crafted Updrift IPA. Long on unexpected tropical, stone fruit and citrus punch, Updrift is the perfect companion to punctuate any outdoor escape. Available now—and year-round—in 12 oz. cans, 6-packs, mixed IPA 12-packs, and on-tap at Pelican brewpubs and other participating watering holes.

Atop the dune, the trail or after catching the big wave, bring Updrift on your next adventure and ascend the crest of hop character!

ABV: 7.1% | IBU: 70 | PLATO: 16º

“At Pelican, we honor our outdoor experiences and of course the incomparable beauty of the Oregon Coast so we wanted to imagine the perfect companion beer to adventure with,” says Jason Schlebach, head brewer, Pelican Brewing Company. “We set out to create a beer that’s as refreshing and unexpected as the environment we’re surrounded by here on the coast. Creating a profile that is great for any outdoor activity really drove us to the drawing board to compose the perfect hop blend. We believe Updrift will become a thirst-quenching favorite on your next adventure.”

Cheers!

A Father of All Tsunamis shakes the Oregon Coast this month as Pelican Brewing Company conceives the next batch of its award-winning Imperial Stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. The six-time medalist, which was just introduced to the Pelican lineup three years ago, took home two Silver medals in 2019 at the Australian International Beer Awards as well as the International Beer Cup, and in 2018 Father won Gold at the Australian International Beer Awards, and Silvers at both the Brussels Beer Challenge and Oregon Beer Awards. Father was also awarded a Silver medal in 2017 at the Australian International Beer Awards.

Father of All Tsunamis, which is a key player in Pelican’s popular barrel-aged series, originates from the Pelican’s legendary Tsunami Export Stout. One-upping this mighty beer is no easy task. To create a beer with even more stout character, Pelican reimagined the fabled Tsunami and created a new Imperial version. Full of rich roasty flavors reminiscent of dark chocolate and espresso, Father of All Tsunamis takes things one step further by aging in Rye whiskey barrels. With layers of spiciness, vanilla and caramel coming from these barrels, Father of All Tsunamis emerges with a richness and balance beyond imagination.

ABV: 11.2% IBU: 55 PLATO: 24º

Fellow fanatics quake with anticipation

The limited-production Father of All Tsunamis, which will be available this month in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select locations, will be available for pick-up at all Pelican brewpubs—Cannon Beach, Tillamook, Pacific City—the weekend of February 7, 2020.

“The 2020 vintage of Father of All Tsunamis is exceptionally rich with cocoa-like dark chocolate flavors,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster of Pelican Brewing Company. “This year’s Father has a dryness on the finish to balance out the full-bodied richness of malt flavor and the subtle vanilla-like barrel character. A light spiciness hints at the robust rye whiskey that these barrels once held. With the dark, stormy weather we get this time of year, it is a fantastic winter warmer to enjoy by the fireside.”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold Medals this year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

With a nod to the popularity of Pelican’s original barrel-aged masterpiece Mother of All Storms, English-style Barleywine aged in Bourbon Barrels, the brewery continues its vision for creating recipes that combine beer, spirits and barrel flavors. Fellow fanatics of Pelican’s barrel-aged series have another year of tasty treats ahead with quarterly releases of exquisite beers like Captain of the Coast, Wee Heavy Ale aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey Barrels, and of course the annual return of ‘Mother.’

Like all Pelican beers, these medal winners are born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink.

With a flair for exploring all the bold ways to tap the full spectrum of hop flavors and aroma, Pelican Brewing Company this week adds what brewers are calling a ‘weighty, moody dank IPA’ to its series of rotating seasonal brews. Leaning on its own innovative dry-hopping techniques to extract even more character from its ingredients, Pelican has crafted Our Dankest Hour, a boundary-pushing hop-forward lusty IPA—available now in 12 oz. six-pack cans and on-tap at Pelican brewpubs and other participating watering holes.

Since it was born at the beach 24 years ago, Pelican has enjoyed a reputation for leading American IPA development, creating and releasing numerous groundbreaking IPAs like Beak Breaker, Beak Bender, Hazy Rock, India Pelican Ale and many others.

Our Dankest Hour is part of Pelican’s new Hoppination Migration series of experimental IPAs that—like the seasonal flight of the intrepid pelican—soars in pursuit of innovative flavors. Pelican’s Hoppination Migration beers will explore emerging IPA styles, new ingredients and new brewing methods that survey the vast spectrum of flavor experiences possible in this dynamic beer style.

Hunting for the deepest heart of dankness, the brewers at Pelican have explored new depths of adventurous flavor and emerged triumphant with the assertive resiny, earthy pungency known as Dank. A bold blast of hop character with notes of pine tree, blackberry and stone fruit sets the stage, while malt undertones of biscuit and subtle caramel round out the flavor balance. A candied citrus impression leads to a clean hoppy finish. When all seems lost, fear not, because Our Dankest Hour will lead to flavor bliss!

ABV: 7.5% | IBU: 75 | PLATO: 17º

“Pelican is all about finding the boundaries and pushing them in creative methods of brewing. For Our Dankest Hour we rolled up our sleeves to explore the more haunting, dank, dark side of what an IPA can be,” says Cat Wiest R & D brewer at Pelican who led trial batch production. “As a team, we go all out to create new approaches to brewing and maximize our ingredients to create a dynamic experience. That dedication to design really shines in Our Dankest Hour which presents an assertive, dank hop character and resiny, pine aroma—a perfect, moody brew for any hour of the day.

Like all Pelican beers, Our Dankest Hour is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Dude! It’s back! Pelican Brewing Company re-releases the uber popular The Brewed Abides, a White Russian-inspirited Milk Stout, as its winter seasonal brew. Fellow fanatics eagerly snapped this one up when it was first released last winter—so Pelican welcomes back the intense, rich brew just in time for cold weather savoring. The Brewed Abides is available now in 12 oz. six-packs and on draft at Pelican brewpubs and other participating watering holes.

All brewers like a cocktail from time to time, but how about the best of both worlds in this cocktail-influenced beer? The Brewed Abides takes its inspiration from the classic ‘White Russian’ cocktail as well as ‘The Dude’ imbibing it in the movie that made it famous, The Big Lebowski.

The Brewed Abides is a milk stout brewed with fresh roasted coffee, cacao nibs and vanilla beans. This unconventional beer pours a chocolate color with dense off-white foam and entices the senses with an aromatic bouquet of coffee, dark chocolate and a subtle hint of vanilla.

“It took some finessing to get all of the flavors to abide but the end result is a delightful and smooth drinkable beer,” says Coren Tradd, Pelican brewer who created the recipe for The Brewed Abides. “What is so remarkable about Pelican beers is that we don’t take the path of least resistance—we take calculated risks exploring diverse and contrasting flavors. I cannot wait to taste the next release of this one.”

Pale ale malt, C-75 malt, Blackprinz malt, Lactose, Magnum hops, Willamette hops, Stumptown coffee, cacao, vanilla, pure coastal water, and pure ale yeast abide in harmony to create intense, rich flavors with hints of coffee, caramel maltiness and a velvety mouthfeel.

ABV: 7% | IBU: 25 | PLATO: 17º

“The Brewed Abides was a sensation when it was released earlier in 2019—literally selling out in days—we are thrilled to bring it back to begin our seasonal rotation in 2020,” said Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican Brewing Company. “Our goal was to evoke the flavors of a White Russian while still remaining true to the beer in overall balance and drinkability—all while ensuring all of the flavors and ingredients worked in harmony. The brew team nailed it!”

Like all Pelican beers, The Brewed Abides is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Pelican Brewing Company announces the final brew in the Lone Pelican cocktail collection of beers with the release of Short Days Long Nights, an amber ale with ginger and lime. The artful new brew balances rich, sweet flavors with a spicy, tart finish reminiscent of a tropical Dark’N Stormy, a cocktail that combines the flavors of dark rum, fresh lime juice and ginger beer. Short Days is available now in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at Pelican and other participating watering holes.

Short Days Long Nights is a beer brewed to protest the coming of Winter and the onset of dark, chilly, drizzly weather. To counter the prevailing conditions, we have crafted a beer that takes flavor cues from the classic cocktail Dark’N Stormy. A dark amber color sets the stage for an aroma of deep caramel, citrus and hints of ginger. The richness of caramel follows through in the flavor, with a subtle tartness in the finish from lime. A hint of sweetness and a touch of ginger spiciness make for a cold weather beer that can vicariously transport you to a tropical sailboat.

ABV: 7.5% | IBU: 20 | PLATO: 17º

“Designing the Cocktail Collection this year has really allowed our team to flex its creative muscles,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “The results are uniquely memorable beers that take beer flavor into uncharted territory.”

When Pelican Brewing Company launched the Lone Pelican Small Batch Series its intention was to introduce limited-production beers that explore new techniques, ingredients and under-represented styles. As part of that limited production small batch series, Pelican turned its award-winning talents to crafting an entirely different segment of beer: the Pelican Cocktail Collection.

“Short Days Long Nights reinforces the Pelican way of imagining the flavors and experience of the finished beer—its flavors, aromas, texture, and gingery finish transport us to a warm beach while still delivering the richness and maltiness of a perfect Autumn beer,” says Welch. “The Lone Pelican Series has been a fun exploration of so many different flavors you’d never imagine finding in a beer—its been a fun and challenging process to create such interesting flavors within a production brewery.”

Like the lone pelican flying independently from the flock, this small batch series flies in the face of convention. The Lone Pelican Series takes traditional beer styles and ingredients and reimagines them to demonstrate the vast spectrum of flavor experiences possible in this wonderful beverage.

Like all Pelican beers, Short Days Long Nights is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

A toast to Belgian beer bling! Pelican Brewing Company scores four medals at the Brussels Beer Challenge. Pelican was honored with silver medals for Father of All Tsunamis in the Russian Imperial Stout Barrel or Oak Aged category and Tsunami Stout in the Export Stout category. Beak Bender Hoppinated IPA and Kiwanda Cream Ale both took bronze medals in the Pacific IPA and Blond/Golden Ale categories, respectively.

The international beer competition in Belgium provides a unique opportunity for beer producers to compete with the best international and Belgian brewers.

During three days, a panel of 100 internationally renowned beer experts judge 1,800 beers from all corners of the world. The participating brews are subdivided into categories based on origin, typology and style, and are then tasted. After the three-day selection process, the finest beers were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for each category. This international competition gives all beer producers a unique benchmarking opportunity and brings them face to face with the finest brews on the planet.

“The variety and complexity of Belgian beers is world renowned, and for Pelican beers to be consistently recognized by Belgian brewers and beer experts is an honor, ” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican Brewing Company. “I’m so proud of the creativity and hard work of our award-winning brewers—this is such a fantastic recognition of their innovation and excellence at the craft of brewing.“

Prost! It’s Lucky Number 13 for Pelican Brewing Company’s uber-decorated Stormwatcher’s Winterfest English-style Barleywine which came out of the brewery’s vault to land it’s 13th Gold Medal—and 39 medals overall since 2003. The latest honor was bestowed at the European Beer Star international beer competition in Nuremberg. Beak Breaker Double India Pale Ale was decorated again with a Bronze at the prestigious European competition making it the seventh award since it was first brewed in 2016.

Pelican initially brewed Stormwatcher’s Winterfest as the perfect beer to savor on a stormy Oregon Coast day—its deep amber-red color, massive toasted malt, toffee and caramel aroma, and full-bodied malty flavor lead to a smooth, soft, warming finish. The floral aroma and flavor come from Hersbrucker & Goldings hops, while a rich, toasted malt sweetness balances a mild, subtle bitterness in the finish. Its big, warming flavor makes it the ideal complement to nasty weather!

Beak Bender has become a favorite of hopheads looking for great big punchy aromas. Pelican has been packing hop aroma into beer for over 20 years but Beak Breaker pays homage to big, hoppy aromatic innovation. With massive additions of Mosaic, Citra, and Centennial hops this beer delivers a bright citrus-tropical aroma with notes of ruby red grapefruit and sweet pine, blasting your olfactory sense—enough to break your beak! Beak Breaker is available year-round as part of Pelican’s core lineup.

“We are incredibly humbled to be recognized again at the European Beer Star—the judging is at an extremely high level, and the competition is fierce. To come away with two medals—gold and bronze—is truly an honor,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster Pelican Brewing Company.

There was record attendance at the 16th annual 2019 European Beer Star where 2,483 beers from 47 countries across all continents competed for recognition. A 145-member judges panel, master brewers, beer sommeliers and established beer connoisseurs from 28 countries took part in a two-day blind tasting to determine the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals for 67 different beer styles. Objective ranking criteria were applied like those beer consumers themselves utilize—appearance, foam, smell, taste and characteristics typical of the variety. This ensures transparency and the propriety of the evaluation process. Stefan Stang, Managing Director of the Bavarian private brewers’ association Private Brauereien Bayern, says this is one of the reasons the Beer Star competition has such a strong worldwide reputation.

“The phenomenal rise of our competition shows how important artisanal brewing has become and the great variety of beers being produced,“ says Stang.

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

And now twenty-four years later, Pelican Brewing Company is an iconic beach brand and one of the most decorated craft breweries in Oregon.

Another Mother of All Storms is predicted at the Oregon Coast next month as Pelican Brewing Company creates the newest batch of its award-winning English-style bourbon barrel-aged barleywine. The 12-time medalist—and anchor of Pelican’s barrel-aged collection—has been honored with five Gold medals over its life-span and is one of Pelican’s most highly-anticipated brews.

There are many storms out there, all of them perfect in their own way. But there is only one Mother of all Storms and it only happens on the Oregon Coast. Based on Stormwatcher’s Winterfest, Pelican’s English-style barleywine spends a year aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Nearly at its peak, Mother of all Storms delivers deep flavors of toasted malt, bourbon and oak. The finish rewards with whispers of vanilla, toffee and caramel. Pelican suggests you hunker down—this beer is best enjoyed with winds in excess of 60 mph.

ABV: 14% IBU: 40 PLATO: 32º

Fellow fanatics batten down the hatches in anticipation

The limited-production Mother of All Storms will be available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at Pelican brewpubs—Pacific City, Cannon Beach, and Tillamook—starting the weekend of November 16, 2019 and reservations are open now for pre-order online. Fans who pre-purchase Mother online for pick-up at Pelican brewpubs on either November 16 or 17 will receive a free bottle of vintage Mother of All Storms and a special release shirt—while supplies last. No shipping is available for this release so orders need to picked up at the coast. Supplies are limited.

Fellow fanatics who want to make a weekend of it in Pacific City can book rooms at Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa, Inn at Cape Kiwanda or any of the Kiwanda Hospitality Group’s many lodging options. Those properties are offering an add-on 12-bottle case of 2019 Mother of All Storms when you book your room—at the same price as the case pick-up rate, $240.

Pelican plans brewers’ dinner to sample barrel-aged lineup in December

Darron Welch will guide guests through a four-course barrel-aged dinner paired with Pelican’s illustrious barrel-aged lineup including Mother, Captain of the Coast, Father of All Tsunamis and Queen of Hearts on December 6, at 6 p.m. Twenty guests will enjoy incredible ocean views at Meridian Restaurant & Bar at Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa in Pacific City and a delectable collaboration between Chef John Nelson at Meridian and Pelican’s mega-award-winning founding brewmaster. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased online. Must be 21+ to attend.

“We want to offer guests an opportunity to taste each beer of the Barrel-Aged series side by side, along with courses that have been specifically designed to highlight, enhance and complement the deep, complex flavors of each beer,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican. “When it’s done right, the combination of great beer and perfect food pairing equals more than the sum of the parts themselves.”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold Medals this year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

With a nod to the popularity of Pelican’s original barrel-aged collection the brewery continues its vision for creating recipes that combine beer, spirits and barrel flavors. Fellow fanatics of Pelican’s barrel-aged series have another year of tasty treats ahead with quarterly releases of exquisite beers like Queen of Hearts, Saison Ale aged in Old Tom Gin Barrels, Captain of the Coast, Wee Heavy Ale aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey Barrels, Father of All Tsumanis, and of course the annual return of ‘Mother.’

Like all Pelican beers, these medal winners are born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Pelican Brewing Company was just honored with five international awards at the prestigious 2019 International Beer Cup held at Shinmai Media Garden in Matsumoto City, Japan. The International Beer Cup competition boasts a highly-regarded judging panel of industry experts from around the world who tasted hundreds of international craft beer entries.

Pelican Brewing Company was awarded honors this year for:

SILVER

Father of All Tsunamis, Wood/Barrel-aged Strong Stout

Five Fin Pilsner, International-style Lager

Sea’N Red Irish-style Red Ale

BRONZE

Mother of All Storms, Wood/Barrel-aged Strong Beer

Tsunami Stout, Export-style Stout

This is the first time Pelican has entered the International Beer Cup though the brewery’s founding brewmaster, Darron Welch, has earned well over 450 medals including Gold medals last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards. This year, the Japanese competition accepted more than 900 beer entries from 25 countries that were judged by more than 80 judges from 25 countries.

The mission of the International Beer Cup is to create greater consumer awareness around the world about the quality and diversity of various beers of the world. Traditionally, most of beers in the competition have been registered by Japanese breweries, however as the organization sees expansion of the quality and diversity of the Asia/Japanese craft beer market, organizers have recently welcomed beers and breweries outside of Japan.

“All of us at Pelican Brewing Company are thrilled to earn this recognition for our beer—it’s a distinct honor to have so many of our beers recognized in such an international field of entries,” said Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican Brewing Company.

Oh Captain! My Captain! Pelican Brewing Company welcomes back its barrel-aged triumph Captain of the Coast as it returns to port this weekend on Friday, September 13th. Pelican’s celebrated three-time Gold medalist Wee Heavy Ale aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey Barrels took top honors this year at the 2019 Australian International Beer Awards.

The limited-production Captain of the Coast, which will be available this month in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select locations, is available now for pre-order online. The Captain will be available for pick-up at Pelican brewpubs in Pacific City, Cannon Beach and Tillamook next weekend starting Friday, September 13th, and in specialty bottle shops the week of September 16th. Supplies are limited.

For this commanding version of MacPelican’s Wee Heavy Pelican took its award winning Wee Heavy and laid it down in Washington Wheat Whiskey barrels from Dry Fly Distilling in Spokane. What emerged was recognizably Wee Heavy, but with added notes of chocolate covered cherries, toasted oak, spice and vanilla in the aroma. The first sip produces flavors reminiscent of malted milk balls and crème brûlée with a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Continue on the voyage and you’ll find dried apricots, sherry-like flavors, and dark marmalade. The Captain welcomes you aboard.

ABV: 9.5% | IBU: 25 | PLATO: 22º

With a nod to the popularity of Pelican’s original barrel-aged masterpiece Mother of All Storms, English-style Barleywine aged in Bourbon Barrels, the brewery continues its vision for creating recipes that combine beer, spirits and barrel flavors.

Pelican Brewing Company’s newest Oregon Coast brewpub is coming soon to Lincoln City, Oregon. The brewery announces its expanded coastal footprint on the site of The Bay House, an iconic restaurant on Siletz Bay. With a long, rich legacy in fine cuisine and hospitality on the Central Coast, The Bay House plans to relocate and expand its popular venue at another site nearby.

“We are in the planning stages of designing an innovative new brewpub that will bring a unique dining option to Lincoln City and we are delighted to follow the incredible legacy of The Bay House restaurant at this beautiful site on the coast—we wish them well as they expand their hospitality offerings,” says Mary Jones, founder and owner of Pelican Brewing, Kiwanda Hospitality Group and the Nestucca Ridge Family of Companies. “Whether it’s brewing award-winning beer, innovating new beer cuisine or creating a new venue for guests to enjoy the magnificence of the Oregon Coast, we are all about creating great guest experiences. This new brewpub will enable us to do just that while bringing a new dining and entertainment experience to the Central Coast.”

Pelican has secured the design services of the global award-winning hospitality design firm, EDG, and the architectural expertise of Portland-based Jones Architecture. Both firms are committed to collaborating with the Pelican team to create an exceptionally-designed space that embraces the beauty of the site and Pelican’s desire to create an extraordinary guest experience. The team is working diligently on the plans and hope to break ground in early 2020. Planned opening is early 2021.

“Pelican Brewing Company, its owners, and team are well-respected, and they will be an active community partner in Lincoln City hospitality and tourism—we welcome them to this special location,” says Steve Wilson, long-time proprietor at The Bay House. “We have been planning to expand our offerings to include overnight lodging in addition to the restaurant venue, and we are now engaged in negotiations to move to an outstanding spot not far from here. With the same staff, the same menu concepts, the same dedication to our art, and the same attitude of hospitality, we expect to be ready for business by early next year.”

In other news…

New 19.2 ounce ‘stovepipe’ PeliCANs have landed!

Pelican has introduced a new 19.2 ounce ‘stovepipe’ style of can to its lineup. The first up in this single-serve format is Pelican’s renowned India Pelican Ale, which returns this month to its core year-round line of brews. As a beach brand, Pelican is long on environmentally-friendly packaging options—cans are readily recyclable, lightweight, light-proof for avoiding light damage, and compatible with Pelican’s place on the beach and recreational outdoor lifestyle.

“The 12 ounce can format we launched earlier this year has been wildly successful and led us to think about a fun single-serve size format to replace the 22 oz. bottle—when we saw the 19.2 ounce can we knew it was the perfect solution,” says Jim Prinzing, chief executive officer, Pelican Brewing Company. “Our barrel-aged series will continue to be released in the 22 ounce bottle, but the 19.2 ounce can will be much more conducive to the packable, mobile and outdoor-friendly lifestyle our fellow fanatics love.”

In addition to India Pelican Ale, the lineup of 19.2 ounce cans will also include Kiwanda Cream Ale, Beak Breaker Double IPA, and Tsunami Stout.

Pelican leans into sustainable brewing practices

With a mission to invest in the community and initiatives that make its home at the Oregon Coast environmentally healthy, Pelican has installed new technology and launched initiatives that protect and sustain the environment. The brewery just announced a partnership with local start-up Farm Power Northwest to recycle their own brewing wastewater with the help of this local processor. Pelican then will buy a significant part of its electrical power back from these local & renewable resources to help support the cycle of sustainable energy production. Pelican’s new recycling process joins other environmental protection initiatives like the Salmon SuperHWY, spent grain donations for local dairies and brewing practices that ensure better water conservation to name a few.

Pelican eyes expansion at Tillamook brewing facilities

With growing demand for its award-winning beer, consistent innovation of new and unusual beer styles, and more collaboration with brewing partners, Pelican is planning for expansion of its brewing facilities in Tillamook. Pelican currently produces 40,000 barrels of beer a year on a 30-barrel brewhouse and plans to install a larger brewhouse in Spring of 2020 that will allow capacity growth upwards of 100,000 barrels while maintaining the flexibility of the smaller 30-barrel brewhouse.

“It is very important for us to remain flexible and innovative as we grow, says Jim Prinzing, chief executive officer, Pelican Brewing Company. “The expansion plan we are bringing together allows us to grow capacity to stay ahead of the demand curve but also gives us the agility that we need to continue brewing a ready supply of small batch, barrel aged, and experimental beers that our fans love.”

With a mission to invest in the community and initiatives that make its home at the Oregon Coast environmentally healthy, Pelican Brewing Company has installed new technology and launched initiatives that protect and sustain the environment. The brewery today announced that it has partnered with local start-up Farm Power Northwest to recycle their own brewing wastewater with the help of this local processor. Pelican then buys 50% of its electrical power back from these local & renewable resources to help support the cycle of sustainable energy production.

Farm Power is a Pacific Northwest company operating at the intersection of sustainable agriculture and renewable energy. Their facilities are designed around a proven commercial technology called an anaerobic digestion. This process harvests methane gas from manure, and greatly reduces negative excess nutrient loading to streams, rivers & estuaries. The captured methane produces electricity, which is then sold to Pelican and the Tillamook community. The processed manure, now digested fiber, travels back to partner farmers as an organic fertilizer now free of pathogens and odor. Along the way, the organization reduces greenhouse gas emissions by thousands of tons per year.

How does Farm Power work with Pelican? Pelican captures & meters all waste streams. This includes process water, excess yeast, residual cleaning water and tank bottoms. Pelican then collects and transports this composite liquid to Farm Power Northwest. The brewery wastewater is then mixed with manure and food and beverage waste from other customers in an ‘anaerobic digester’ where the waste is converted to methane. Generated methane becomes bio-gas which turns two 6kW co-process generators. Remaining grey water is used to irrigate pastures on local dairy farms. Lastly, the process fiber is land-applied as organic fertilizer, and as a soil builder helping improve the sustainability of dairy farming in the region.

“We know we are more than lucky to live and work in a place as beautiful as the Oregon Coast. We don’t take any of this for granted and we work hard to ensure we are doing all we can to protect and sustain this incredible place we call home,” says Jim Prinzing, chief executive officer, Pelican Brewing Company. “We are committed to staying up-to-date on new and emerging technology and practices that make our brewing processes and operations as energy efficient and sustainable as we can. Farm Power offers the ideal solution for us to contribute to sustainable energy production.”

Pelican Brewing works hard to ensure they are brewing in sustainable and environmentally-friendly methods. Just some of Pelican’s other environmentally-friendly initiatives include:

Salmon SuperHwy

Pelican donates a portion of proceeds from every barrel sold of Five Fin West Pilsner directly to the Salmon SuperHwy project. This organization works to restore access to almost 180 miles of blocked habitat throughout six major salmon & steelhead rivers of Oregon’s North Coast.

Transportation Carbon Offset

The shipping and logistics team at Pelican have worked over the last several years to develop a deep connection with local freight companies to help offset the carbon footprint that comes along with shipping beer. Pelican ensures that every semi-truck that coming to the brewery is full of packaging and raw materials and every trailer leaving the brewery are full of beer heading to wholesalers.

Water Conservation

When the Brewers Association first posted the statistic that it takes seven gallons of water to produce one gallon of beer, Pelican brewers gasped and then asked themselves, ‘What is our consumption?’ Pelican carefully looked over all of brewing procedures, water meters, and waste water logs and found something quite surprising: Pelican landed at half the national average with 4.6 gallons of water to one gallon of beer. They then spent time dialing in processes and have been able to drop that ratio to under 4:1. An incredible feat that shows every step in the Pelican process is done with purpose and without waste.

Spent Grain

Pelican is proud of it’s partnerships with local farms. All spent grain from the three brewing facilities is used as feed at local dairy farmers. Spent grain provides additional nutrients like protein and fiber for livestock and helps farmers cut back their costs on having to buy feed. Pelican used almost 2 million pounds of malt in 2018—and with cheese being one of the other major commodities produced on the rural Oregon coast, that’s a lot of happy cows!

Better Boilers

In 2016, Pelican installed a new energy efficient Miura Boiler—new technology and better process control allow this boiler to capture more steam condensate and reuse it in the generation process. The condensate return-lines have a connection to the Pelican kettle steam stack that increases the recovered condensate and creates a 5% utilization increase.

Hot Water Reclamation

Once wort is boiled it needs to be cooled down so the yeast can ferment the sugars and make beer. To do this Pelican utilizes a single stage cooling system to bring wort from boiling temperatures to below 70°F. They run chilled water and the wort through a plate heat exchanger and then route the now heated water back to a Hot Process Water tank and reuse it in the brewhouse. This process helps cut back the need to heat water with the boiler and reduces usage of propane. This critical process reduces Pelican’s consumption of propane by over 40,000 gallons a year.

Pelican Brewing Company’s new Honey Rice Lager, Me, You, Happoshu!, has been awarded a Gold Medal at the 2019 Honey Beer Competition hosted by the National Honey Board. Bright citrus flavors, honey, toasty malt, and crisp, floral notes combined to capture the attention of the judges. The rice-based Japanese-style beer has been a Pelican guest favorite and sold out in short order but the brewery intends to bring it back in the near future.

This year’s Honey Beer Competition had 295 beer entries made with honey, which were submitted from craft breweries throughout North America. The competition was judged by 32 certified judges from the Beer Judge Certification Program and featured 12 beer style categories and one cider category. The submitted beers were judged on their aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel and the role honey played in the beer. Pelican received a Gold Medal in the ‘Other’ category for unique style honey beers.

For this award-winner, Pelican captured the delightful, yet unexpected combination of our brewer’s experience at his hometown sushi restaurant. Imagine a specialty dessert of honey drizzled orange slices paired with a dry Japanese lager and close your eyes and take a sip of Me, You, Happoshu! This clean jasmine rice lager is amplified with orange zest, citrusy Meridian hops, and generous amounts of orange blossom honey. Light toasty malt, a lean body, and a super crisp, refreshing finish really round out the unusual, yet satisfying combination.

ABV: 5% | IBU: 20 | PLATO: 11º

“I wanted to recreate this flavorful experience I had at my hometown sushi shop—they offer oranges with drizzled honey for dessert and that dish paired with a dry Japanese lager was an absolutely delicious and memorable experience I wanted to recreate for myself and fellow fanatics,” said Coren Tradd, head brewer at Pelican’s Cannon Beach brewpub. “We worked hard to innovate a recipe where the honey was prominent and achieved the incredible flavor and aroma experience I remember from that pairing.”

Like all Pelican beers, Me, You, Happoshu was born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

“This beer has a very balanced and nuanced sort of flavor expression,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “It took a careful, deft touch in the brewhouse to bring it all together without any one thing overwhelming. Coren’s skillful design and process for this beer really lets the refreshing flavors blend and emerge as a complete expression of his intention.”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Everyone loves a comeback story, especially when it features Pelican Brewing Company’s original IPA, India Pelican Ale. Back and better than ever, Pelican reimagined its original Gold Medal recipe with an even greater focus on massive hop-centricity. Bright, zesty citrus flavors meet a wall of hop flavor for a clean, balanced finish. Available now in Pelican’s new 19.2 oz. can and on draft at Pelican and participating watering holes.

“We’ve been looking for the perfect opportunity to bring India Pelican Ale back to explore how much flavor and aroma we could add to it with the new hopping techniques we have learned,” says Jim Prinzing, chief executive officer, Pelican Brewing Company. “So when we decided to launch our new ‘stovepipe’ cans we knew our super classic hoppy IPA had to be part of the lineup.”

India Pelican Ale recreates all the swagger and style of its legacy namesake, slamming you into a bright, citrusy wall of hops. Break on through to experience huge aromatics of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple and sweet pine. In fact, don’t call it a comeback—just crack one open and party like its 1999.

ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 65 | PLATO: 15º

“The newest version of India Pelican Ale is true to its roots with just a slight addition of experimental hops that are now available to escalate the flavor and intensity of the Cascade and Centennial hops,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “India Pelican Ale is a true Northwest classic that reminds us of what IPA is all about. We think we’ll have a lot of eager fans who remember this classic Pelican IPA and have been clamoring for its return.”

In its heyday in the 2000s, the original India Pelican Ale was one of the top winning IPAs in the country taking coveted honors for more than a decade. Just some of its top medal awards include:

Great American Beer Festival
2001 Bronze medal
2004 Gold medal

2003 Real Ale Festival
Gold medal, Champion American-Style Ale

Pelican Brewing Company announces the next in the Lone Pelican cocktail collection of beers with the release of Jamaicito, a Mojito-inspired lager. Brewed with hibiscus, mint and lime, Jamaicito takes summertime refreshment to a whole new level. The light, crisp new brew is available now in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at Pelican and other participating watering holes.

While Jamaicito is influenced by the popular Mojito cocktail, Pelican’s head brewer Jason Schlebach also pays homage to his Hispanic roots and memories of summertime flavors inherent in a Spanish hibiscus tea called Jamaica. Take one look at Jamaicito’s hot pink hibiscus color and you’ll know Pelican’s spin on this thirst-quenching delight is not your average light lager.

“When I got the nod to create the recipe for our summer cocktail-inspired beer I thought of Jamaica, the Spanish hibiscus tea I’ve enjoyed since my childhood—hibiscus has a lot of interesting tannin and tart notes to explore for a very different realm of flavor,” said Schlebach. “A lot of beers are so hop-centric right now and I thought it would be interesting to experiment with a unique blend of hibiscus, mint and lime flavors to create a summertime beer with a completely new flavor profile and out-of-the-ordinary character.”

With clean, noble hops and classic lager malt as the basis, Pelican layered an infusion of hibiscus flowers, aromatic mint and tangy lime. Let the aromas of citrus zest, floral hops and hibiscus blossoms float serenely over a clean, biscuity malt foundation. Then, take in the herbaceous mint flavors that combine beautifully with lime tartness and an ever so light sweet aftertaste. With a finish that is effervescent and refreshing, Jamaicito will leave you feeling in the pink!

“Jamaicito is a terrific example of taking flavors inspired by a cocktail and integrating them into a beer—not disguising beer as a cocktail or vice versa but really exploring the elements of flavor of a cocktail and integrating those into this delicious beer,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster at Pelican Brewing Company. “We spent a lot of energy making sure that the level of lime was right ‘in the pocket’—not too strong or too weak—and balanced that flavor with mint and hibiscus, which really makes for a gorgeous ruby color and a super refreshing beer. We’ve intentionally designed Jamaicito with a lower alcohol level perfect for summer weather.”

When Pelican Brewing Company launched the Lone Pelican Small Batch Series its intention was to introduce limited-production beers that explore new techniques, ingredients and under-represented styles. As part of that limited production small batch series, Pelican this year turns its award-winning talents to crafting an entirely different segment of beer: meet Pelican’s bold Cocktail Collection.

Like the lone pelican flying independently from the flock, this small batch series flies in the face of convention. The Lone Pelican Series takes traditional beer styles and ingredients and reimagines them to demonstrate the vast spectrum of flavor experiences possible in this wonderful beverage.

Like all Pelican beers, Jamaicito is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink.

Pelican Brewing Company brewer, Cat Wiest, is known for brewing beer with a sense of mission and purpose. She’s got an appetite for learning and an innate creativity ideal for innovating award-winning Pelican brews. It is that combination that landed her the coveted 2019 Glen Hay Falconer Foundation Scholarship to the Siebel Institute of Technology World Academy of brewing.

Wiest will be enrolled next February in the World Brewing Academy (WBA) where she will work to earn an International Diploma in the Brewing Technology Program at Siebel Institute of Technology Chicago and Munich campuses. The International Diploma course is a 12-week comprehensive program intended for brewers seeking an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects and practical application of brewing science and technology.

Wiest is currently a Research and Development Brewer at Pelican and previously held a number of professional brewing positions at Seabright Brewery, Speakeasy Ales and Lagers, and Pyramid Ales. She serves on the Pink Boots Society Board of Directors. Wiest is very involved not only in the national brewing scene but is also a committed citizen in her local community. The Scholarship Selection Committee noted Wiest’s ‘tremendous depth of work experience and life experience including solo trekking the Appalachian Trail.’

“Cat is engaged in brewing, in community, and in living life fully—she is clearly motivated and inspired by all around her,” says the Selection Committee. “Cat has the potential to do much with the International Diploma scholarship, clearly from the technical side but even more from sharing her knowledge and mentoring others.”

The hallmarks of Pelican Brewing Company beers are quality, consistency, and creativity that combine to create a downright compelling experience. In order to consistently create captivating beer, Pelican annually invests in the intensive continuing education of its brewers and could not be more pleased that one of the Pelican team has earned such a distinct honor.

“Cat brings a perspective and creative point of view that is uniquely her own—she has an abiding interest in brewing process detail and improvement and is passionately interested in learning all she can about brewing science and process,” says Pelican’s founding brewmaster Darron Welch. “I know that Cat has a number of goals for her brewing career that fit well with the Falconer Foundation—she is a deserving recipient of this coveted scholarship and will continue to make invaluable contributions to the brewing industry. We look forward to seeing what innovations and creativity she brings back to the brewery.”

Because of their ongoing education, Pelican brewers have a deeper understanding of the ingredients and process that impact the quality of its popular brews. They know that to really create an unforgettable end product they need to have more than a rote understanding of the sequence of tasks that goes into brewing.

“I am so honored to receive this incredible scholarship—as an R & D brewer, the World Brewing Academy diploma course will give me the reinforcement I need to marry the creative side of brewing with the scientific” says Wiest. “With the responsibility of innovating new recipe ideas, it is more critical than ever for me to fill in the gaps of my education—I am confident this program will spark my creativity in some wonderful new ways!”

All hail the Queen! Pelican Brewing Company this month re-releases its celebrated gin barrel-aged Saison, Queen of Hearts. Her eminence boasts three Gold Medals and was bestowed with Silver Medals earlier this year at the 2019 Best of Craft Beer Awards and 2019 Australian International Beer Awards.

The limited-production Queen of Hearts is available now in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at select locations. Queen will be available for pick-up at Pelican brewpubs in Pacific City, Cannon Beach and Tillamook and specialty bottle shops. Supplies are limited.

The original Saison du Pélican is exceptional on its own but when aged in local gin barrels from master Oregon distillers at Ransom Wine and Spirits, it takes on a whole other dimension of flavor. The fruity and spicy aroma of the farmhouse Belgian yeast, herbaceous Goldings hops, and the well-rounded malt character of Saison du Pélican pairs exquisitely with the huge botanical infusions imparted by Ransom Distillery’s Old Tom gin barrels. It has been said that Ransom distillers only bottle the ‘heart of the hearts’—the best portion of distillate, which is why Pelican dubbed its Saison ‘The Queen of Hearts:’

ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 30 | PLATO: 13º

What makes Queen so majestic is the flavor from barrels used for aging the historic Old Tom Gin. According to spirits website Tales of the Cocktail, “when it comes to crafting a classic spirit that essentially vanished from America’s cocktail scene, interpretation was the key to innovation when distilleries took up Old Tom gin’s flag. If Genever is the heady forefather of modern gin and London Dry is the modern standard bearer, Old Tom is the neglected middle child. Not as malty and heavy-handed as Genever. Not as spicy and arid as London Dry. Often sweeter and rounder than your more modern gins, Old Tom gin offers a great introduction to a somewhat divisive spirit—it’s a sweeter, less-botanical version of most gins found on the market today.”

According to Pelican’s highly-decorated founding brewmaster Darron Welch, Queen is not so much a revival of an old beer style as a completely different type of barrel-aged beer—made possible by the imagination, creativity and skill of the Pelican brewing team. The Ransom Old Tom gin barrels are full of outstanding complex flavors, and the aromas and characters of Pelican Saison create a synthesis of flavor that is truly regal.

“Queen is the perfect summertime addition to the Pelican cast—it’s much lighter than other barrel-aged beers with lower alcohol content, lighter color and an herbal, fruity, botanical flavor profile for a bright, light refreshing summer sipper,” says Welch.

With a nod to the popularity of Pelican’s original barrel-aged masterpiece Mother of All Storms, English-style Barleywine aged in Bourbon Barrels, the brewery continues its vision for creating recipes that combine beer, spirits and barrel flavors. Fellow fanatics of Pelican’s barrel-aged series have more tasty collectables ahead with quarterly releases of exquisite beers like Captain of the Coast, Wee Heavy Ale aged in Dry Fly Wheat Whiskey Barrels, the annual return of ‘Mother’ and of course Father of All Tsunamis, Imperial Stout Ale aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels.

For a comprehensive review of all award-winning Pelican beer offerings click here.

Like all Pelican beers, Queen of Hearts is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Pelican Brewing Company has landed two Gold medals from the International Beer Awards. The two Gold Medalists include Pelican’s highly-decorated flagship brew Kiwanda Cream Ale and a delicious new draft-only creation, Coast Range Rye.

Long the darling of Pelican’s year-round offerings, Kiwanda Cream Ale has now earned nearly 60 medals. Kiwanda Cream celebrates Cape Kiwanda, the starting point of the stunning Three Capes Scenic Route and the birthplace of Pelican Brewing Company. Inspired by one of America’s traditional 19th century beer styles, Kiwanda has a golden color, floral aroma, refreshing body and a clean, snappy finish. Whether enjoyed with your toes in the sand at our oceanfront brewpub or in your own backyard, Kiwanda Cream Ale is proof that light colored beer can be both refreshing and inspiring.

Coast Range Rye is a new draft-only creation brewed at the Cannon Beach brewpub—born at the beach, but made with the coastal mountains in mind. Much like the Coast Range, this beer is rustic, earthy, and soul satisfying. With a floral hop nose and flavors of pumpernickel, graham cracker, followed by a pleasant bitterness, this beer is a journey for your taste buds. A journey to misty mountain tops of the beautiful Coast Range, as well as unique and balanced flavors. Coast Range Rye will be available to fellow fanatics at all Pelican brewpubs and other select watering holes.

The International Beer Awards is sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association and takes place in Idaho Falls, Idaho in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest. It is a unique industry competition that judges the best beers in the country by style guidelines. The event is conducted as a single blind sampling followed by rank ordering of the entries within a style category.

“Blind tasting competitions such as IBA are one of the ways that we get real, unbiased feedback on our beers and the North American Brewers Association does a fantastic job gathering a very talented crew of judges,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “Congratulations to the Pelican brewery team for their consistent creativity that produced these outstanding wins at NABA—coming home with two Gold medals is a great honor.”

Pelican’s founding brewmaster, Darron Welch, continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Like all Pelican beers, Kiwanda Cream and Coast Range Rye are born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink.

Can you feel it? There’s a delicate, warm summer wind wafting around Pelican Brewing Company this week with the release of Sea Breeze Ale—the next in a cocktail-inspired line of Lone Pelican innovations. The limited production small batch brew combines the flavors of fresh cranberries, juniper and citrus peel for an incredibly refreshing and bright beer. Sea Breeze is available now while it lasts in 22 oz. bottles and on draft at Pelican and other participating watering holes.

Seabreeze Ale takes inspiration from the original Seabreeze cocktail that marries gin, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice. To bring all the classic flavors to this atypical beer, Pelican added cranberries to the secondary fermentation and then spiced the beer with juniper berries, lemon peel and grapefruit peel. Centennial hops for dry-hopping round out the grapefruit impression and create a beer with incredibly refreshing fruity, tart and citrus characteristics, coupled with the herbal gin-like notes of juniper. Celebrate the return of the sunshine with the brisk bold flavors of Seabreeze.

ABV: 7% | IBU: 15 | PLATO: 15º

“The original Sea Breeze cocktail was created using gin not vodka—so we wanted to be true to that fruit-amplified juniper flavor profile,” says Darron Welch, founding brewmaster, Pelican Brewing Company. “There are many words I’d use to describe this brew—it’s fruity, tart, zesty, botanical, herbaceous, balanced, bold, and complex! Sea Breeze is a beer that is long on refreshment with a gorgeous subtle pink hue—a perfect beer for this time of year when the days are longer and it’s clean, fresh and bright outside.”

Like all Pelican beers, Sea Breeze is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!

Sun’s out and the surf’s up! Pelican Brewing Company celebrates summertime in Oregon with a new beer—welcome 3 Capes IPA. Named for the Three Capes Scenic Loop in Pelican’s backyard on the Oregon Coast, the award-winning brew team has conceived the ideal beer for seasonal enjoyment on the patio or at the beach. 3 Capes is drenched in fruity hop character and long on balanced drinkability—available now in 12 oz. bottles, 6-packs and on-draft.

Pelican has invoked the hop aromas and flavors characteristic of tropical fruits, grapefruit, and strawberry all layered on a malt backbone to achieve a rich golden color reminiscent of the sun just starting to set on the horizon.

The minimalist approach to the malt base perfectly sets the stage for the bright, citrus flavors to shine. Grapefruit, passionfruit, strawberry and resiny sweet pine all come through with undeniable clarity and focus. This totally quaffable IPA features a clean and hoppy finish, balanced by just enough malt character to ensure that the next sip is a foregone conclusion.

ABV: 6.1% | IBU: 60 | PLATO: 13.8º

For 3 Capes, the brew team envisioned warmer days, brilliant sunsets, and light onshore breezes when they conceived the ideal feet-in-the-sand summertime IPA.

“I imagined sitting on the Pelican patio at sunset and thought about summer on the Oregon Coast where the days are warm, the evenings are brisk and you want a more warming effect from the beer,” says Pelican’s founding brewmaster, Darron Welch. “With a solid IPA punchiness and a lower alcohol content at 6.1%, the beer is strong enough to be a warming thirst-quencher but light enough to enjoy more than one.”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Like all Pelican beers, 3 Capes IPA is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink.

In 1979, the BeeGees, Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor dominated the airwaves. Platform boogie shoes and Disco threads were all the rage. And Portland’s favorite gourmet specialty food store was born!

To celebrate 40 years of dishing up top-shelf deli and catering provisions, Elephants Delicatessen tapped Pelican Brewing Company to collaborate on an exclusive craft beer to mark the occasion. Welcome 1979 Pale Ale—a zesty yet relaxed, easy-drinking brew perfect for pairing with your favorite Elephants specialty or any other beloved Portland activity.

“We are incredibly honored to be asked to help celebrate such a terrific milestone,” says Jim Prinzing, chief executive officer, Pelican Brewing Company. “We have deep respect for Elephants’ legacy and culture—few brands have done so much for the culinary landscape of Oregon as Elephants and they truly set the example of what a great Oregon grown company should be. Happy birthday, Elephants! To many more.”

When Elephants Delicatessen found themselves upon their 40th year of business, they wanted to do something a little different. They reached out to Pelican and decided that there is no better way to celebrate than with a beer. Both Pelican and Elephants strive to make their products part of their customer’s day-to-day experiences, and this 1979 beer is no different. A nod to Elephants founding year, the beer was invented with the Northwest in mind. With a pure foundation of Cascade and Centennial hops, 1979 was created to perfectly pair with your favorite lunch in your favorite setting. Grab this Northwest Pale Ale and take a virtual getaway with every sip. You’ll find a bright, clean aroma, zesty citrus flavor, easy drinkability and a rich, golden color. Yum!

ABV: 5.8% | IBU: 45 | PLATO: 13.2º

“When we think of Pelican Brewing, we think of Oregon and an iconic, Oregon heritage brand much like Elephants Delicatessen—Pelican exudes authenticity, craftsmanship and the ability to evoke an experience with their craft and that resonates with all we do here at Elephants as well,” says Cheyenne Terbrueggen, marketing communications manager, Elephants Delicatessen. “Our entire food and beverage team agreed that Pelican would be the perfect partner to help us create 1979—and thanks to the brewers, a truly collaborative experience unfolded. 1979 is all about a celebration—and we wanted to create it with another Oregon brand that we trust and love.”

Team Elephants knew exactly what they wanted in their signature beer and worked with Pelican’s founding brewmaster Darron Welch to choose all of the best fresh ingredients, flavor combinations and brewing processes to create their birthday masterpiece with intention.

“I was really impressed with the way the Elephants team approached this project—their clarity of vision made the process fun and really streamlined,” says Welch. “Their perspective as restaurateurs and caterers is different from ours as brewers, so it was great to see how they jumped into the process of envisioning the beer and evaluating all the malt and hop options to reach the flavor/aroma/color/texture goals. 1979 Pale Ale has a timeless classic character that really reflects what we all imagined as a team.”

Boogie down! Elephants celebrates 40 years and the launch of 1979 Pale Ale on Friday, April 19 from 4—7 p.m. at the NW 22nd location in Portland. Elephants invites guests to join in the festivities for some free beer and snacks as well as T-shirt giveaways and other great beer gear.

“We wanted to create something that our customers could drink everyday—and we wanted it to be an easy going, relaxing thirst-quencher we can pour at all of our taps and sell in our stores for the rest of the year,” says Terbrueggen. “Pelican’s ability to help us tell our story through the beer was just incredible—it’s a collaborative experience we won’t soon forget.”

About Elephants Delicatessen

A locally-owned company since 1979, Elephants Delicatessen pioneered the gourmet food industry in the Pacific Northwest and now has seven Portland-metro area retail locations and a busy catering and events company, all serving great local foods prepared from scratch. A certified B Corporation, Elephants Delicatessen prides itself on sustainable practices and voluntarily meets a higher standard of transparency and accountability, using the power of business as a force for good.

With a deep commitment to its brewery staff and the mission of the Pink Boots Society, Pelican Brewing Company this month releases its inaugural Pink Boots India Pale Lager. Pelican brewer and Pink Boots Society member, Cat Wiest, collaborated on the beer with female colleagues to celebrate the contributions of women in brewing—the extraordinary product of the team is a unique lager recipe that at once offers a bready, sweet roll maltiness and a super clean finish. Pelican Pink Boots will be on tap later this month at Pelican brewpubs and other participating watering holes.

Pink Boots collaboration brews are an industry-wide fundraiser to benefit outreach and scholarships for women in the brewing industry. This beer was designed and brewed in collaboration with multiple female brewing professionals from across the Northwest—in addition to Pink Boots Society founder Teri Fahrendorf. Using a proprietary hop blend created by adventurous, visionary female brewers from across the globe, Pelican Pink Boots IPL features the white grapefruit, cedar, floral and earthy aromas from this special blend. A malt flavor reminiscent of Kings Hawaiian sweet rolls adds a delicious toasty balance, and lager yeast offers an amazingly approachable finish. Enjoy this draft-only lager knowing that the sisters are brewing it for themselves!

ABV: 6.5% | IBU: 45 | PLATO: 15º

Pelican Pink Boots IPL includes a proprietary blend from Yakima Chief Hops which this year partnered with the Pink Boots Society to create an exclusive hop blend for brewers around the world participating in Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day. Available for a limited time to commercial brewers, this seasonal hop blend celebrates women in the beer and brewing industry with a portion of proceeds going to Pink Boots Society scholarship funds.

Wiest spearheaded Pelican’s participation in Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day recruiting a team of colleagues representing various roles in the beer industry as well as brewers from North Jetty Brewing, Heater Allen, and Breakside.

“One of the things that makes Collaboration Brew Day so special is that it allows us to work side-by-side with our peers, mentors, and role models to innovate a beautiful new beer,” says Wiest. “I am grateful that Pelican has been so supportive of this creation and our mission to advance women’s careers in the industry.”

Pink Boots Society splits proceeds from sales of this collaboration brew with participating chapters. The revenue is applied to educational scholarships and programming for its members. Pelican purchased the hops for the beer and will dedicate a portion of proceeds equally between the national Pink Boots Society and the Oregon chapter.

Like all Pelican beers, Pelican Pink Boots is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink.

The PeliCANs are landing just in time for Spring refreshment! Pelican Brewing Company introduces two new beers to its year-round lineup—and both in a canned format perfect for active lifestyles and environmentally-conscious consumers.

Welcome Fly’N Dry Brut India Pale Ale and Katch Kölsch-style Ale with Lemon. Both beers are available in 12 oz. cans in eco-friendly cardboard 6-pack carriers.

The newest Pelican conceptions join Hazy Rock Juicy IPA—the first of the Pelican canned beer series which hit the market last summer and remains a year-round offering. The new additions are expected to land in the craft beer aisle early April.

Fly’N Dry reimagines and amplifies what an IPA can be: fruity, hoppy and well-attenuated, with a dry, yet refreshing finish. Starting with a clean malt base, Fly’N Dry brings heaps of exotic Hüll Melon hops and punchy Citra hops to amplify the flavor party. Hints of candied orange, white grape, melon, rose and citrus combine in a range of bright hop-driven aromatics. A refreshingly dry finish counterpoints the sparkling effervescence and brings brilliant clarity to the tasting experience. Fly’N Dry is the next evolution of the IPA, so prepare your taste buds!

Two-row malt, Dextrapils malt, flaked barley, Hüll Melon hops, Citra hops, Magnum hops, pure coastal water, pure ale yeast combine for a bright punchy aroma of orange, melon and white grape and a sparkling carbonation with a crisp, snappy, dry finish.

Katch Kölsch introduces a fun twist on the classic German-style beer. If you’re lucky enough to reel in this brew you’ll experience the fresh, zesty aroma of lemon peel and tangerine-like Mandarina hops, making this Katch bright and refreshing. A background of toasty malt anchors the balance, highlighted with refreshing citrus flavors. A lean, crisp mouthfeel with a soft, clean finish makes Katch Kölsch eminently crushable. Don’t let this one get away—Katch it if you can!

Pilsner malt, Dextrapils malt, Mandarina Bavaria hops, lemon peel, pure local water, pure ale yeast blend for a fresh, zesty aroma, subtle toasty malt character and lean, crisp mouthfeel.

“As a beach brand, we love the idea of cans as an outdoor-friendly vessel—cans are readily recyclable, lightweight, light-proof for avoiding light damage, and compatible with our place on the beach and an outdoor lifestyle where we can easily pack in/pack out empties,” says Welch. “When done correctly, there is really no quality difference between cans and bottles as far as the beer is concerned. But it is a convenient package that our fellow fanatics want.”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold last year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Like all Pelican beers, Fly’N Dry and Katch are born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!
